This year's Santa Winter Wonfes/Wonderfest has brought Tokyo Ghoul fans a few presents.
Beyond a few presents, it also shows us that there's the potential for more.
Firstly, Kotobukiya showed off their prototype of the ARTFX J Kaneki Ken (Awakened Ver.)
This actually happened before Wonfes started. I'm not a fan of statues at all. I'm too big of a fan of articulation, so I will probably not get it, but I have to admit it looks really good. Although I am not a fan of the anime's version of the kagune, and by extension, not a fan of this kagune.
Secondly, Medicos brought us the rest of the goodies for Tokyo Ghoul, starting with their Statue Legends series, which will, at this point, include Uta, Touka and Kaneki. Well, actually, it's their subsidiary, Di Molto Bene, but that's just specifics.
Uta has already been shown off. Touka and Kaneki were merely announced.
Now, the second Tokyo Ghoul series brought to us by Medicos is part of the Super Action Statue (S.A.S.) line, most known for its JoJo's Bizarre Adventure line of articulated figures. As someone who does not personally care for anything non-articulated, these are the most exciting to me, and I hope they deliver.
According to MyFigureCollection, there are currently three that are planned, but obviously if they do well, there is a possibility for more. Those three are Tsukiyama, Kaneki and Juuzou/Suzuya.Tsukiyama was already shown as a prototype here:
And Kaneki was announced with a preview technical drawing (derp, the actual term escapes me for the moment):
Now Juuzou I can't confirm, but according to MyFigureCollection, it was announced in Japanese on an advertisement without any pictures whatsoever, much like the Touka and Kaneki Statue Legends were
Now I don't really care much for Tsukiyama myself, and don't find his design that intriguing, I will definitely be going for Juuzou and Kaneki. Kaneki most of all. If I get the two of them, it's logical that I'll get Tsukiyama, too. But I don't personally get excited by him beyond the fact that he's the start to one of the things I've been wanting to see for a while now, and which I was hoping to see at Wonfes (wish granted), an articulated Tokyo Ghoul line.
Now this may not be as relevant, but while I'm at it, this might be important to people who just so happen to like Parasyte/Kiseijuu as well, Medicos has also shown off a Prototype of Shinichi Izumi from Parasyte with Migi, and it's looking, well -- great, in my opinion. While it doesn't excite me as much as the potential the Tokyo Ghoul line has does, I am certainly happy to see it, and I will certainly order it. It made this Wonfes even more gratifying to me to see that Parasyte love.
