Anyone who didn't just fall off the bus knows I have a huge love of clone's and they make up over half my 1/6 StarWars, but they really have no place in a stormtrooper conversation.

Unless you're one of those special people waiting on a Boba with a Morrison reveal.

I'm betting that HT stormtrooper will have some improvements on SSC close-up in hand, but nothing really noticeable for display on a shelf. Doesn't really warrant the price of an upgrade for me, or having doubles of the same character (I'm no army builder).

They're different alright, don't worry about that.

It features an extract from the *official* Star Wars poster magazine back in the '70s, which clearly refers to them as clones. It also explains the retconning in Rebels, direct from the Lucasfilm folks themselves.

But when the movie doesn't expressly reveal the truth one way or the other, it gives us our best indication of Lucas' intention at the time. It also proves that the concept of clones as Stormtroopers *was* around at the time.

The TIE Armored spacesuit? So what does TIE stand for? In 1977 it was Twin Ion Engine.

I gotta say I find using an accidental bump on the head by an extra as proof that the stormtrooper is a Jango clone laughable.

That said, it was my understanding in 1977 that the stormtroopers were supposed to be clones. Various batches -- or at least two because there are only two different stormtrooper voices in STAR WARS.

Somewhere along the line, Lucas changed it to a mixed bag of recruits and clones.

Obi-Wan called them Imperial Stormtroopers at the Sandcrawler. I would think he of all people would have used the word Clone if that's what they were. He'd always have known the Clones as Clones. Why make up a different name for them, especially after bring up the Clone Wars.

You really can't wrap around six movies over 40 years and have everything work out. Lucas tried with the special edition and just made things worse. Back in the day, the idea that they were clones was not really that crucial to the storyline.

And as to why they weren't called Clone Troopers? Because clone trooper is a lame name -- stormtroopers sound much more bad ass (regardless of their shooting skills). STAR WARS was more about tying the Empire to Nazis.

Sure, the Stormtrooper bump on the head was accidental. Jango's, however, was very much intentional, and tells us what Lucas was thinking (at least by the time of the prequels).

I guess the term "Clone Trooper" only became necessary by the time of the prequels, as Lucas wanted to differentiate the full-clone army of the PT from the partial-clone army of the OT (now the no-clone army).

I'm really not sure why people care one way or the other. Clone or recruits? Who cares, and what's the difference? There's so much inconsistency in STAR WARS that you can almost have it your own way.

One thing though, regular people signing up to be Stormtroopers are worse than clones breed to commit atrocities.

Also cannot ship to Australia, yet Han and Chewie can? What is going on with Sideshow's shipping service? I just don't understand it!

Let's just say Galaxy Publications Ltd., publisher of said "official" confirmation of clones, had a "broad variety" of mags back then. Hey, it was the 70's.
