Sammy bro, you need to relax here. You're all over every thread with this PVC issue. Honestly, it's not that big of a deal. Are you planning on picking up your PFs and hold them in your arms every night to feel how much they weigh?

It's not the first time SS had to use PVC on a statue. Would you rather the statue bend, break, and fall down due to the excessive weight? Would you rather just two solid feet on the ground to hold the weight in static poses while sacrificing dynamism? No? Then sorry, sometimes lighter materials need to be used in order to achieve the pose and position of the piece without fear of it crumbling under its own weight.

I highly doubt this is going to be a solid polystone piece. The pose and base just can't dictate it. Solid legs, hollow torso? maybe. Partly PVC body? maybe. Solid heavy polystone? Negative. No chance.

In the end....if no one told you the MOS PF was PVC would you have noticed? Just by looking at it.

Told you guys. There just was never a way with that pose and base attachment that this thing, if it was polystone, would not crash to the ground under its own weight.

This is no surprise & really does make perfect sense. There's no way a heavy all polystone statue would be able to be safely supported by just his right leg attached to the base. So I'm completely cool with this.

Agreed.

I really can't believe this PVC thing! In my opinion Sideshow crossed the line! QC problems, last minute changes and at last using PVC on their statues! Sorry, not statues, hybrids! There are so many collectors here who don't like me but how could you tolerate this cheating? Why are we spending those high prices then? First, they pre-opened these products as a polystone statue but when it emerged the body of the Man of Steel is PVC, they change the description of Chris Reeve's PF! Go on guys, continue to support Sideshow!

This is starting to get bad. I now have serious concerns about the rest of the PFs that aren't out yet. If sideshow is going to start making their statues out of plastic I'm expecting to see a price drop accordingly.

Sideshow never said the PF was polystone, everyone just always assumes these things. How could you have ever possibly looked at this statue and asssumed with that pose that, if it was polystone, it wouldn't just topple over or crumble under it's own weight? How would that attachment point be sufficient enough to hold this thing up with that kind of weight? I mean it's quite obvious here to me that it was never going to be a full polystone body.

$429... For a plastic figure...I am not seeing it.

Awaiting Bruce Campbell's next YouTube rant.

Now I'm wondering what else is getting this treatment?

Well, this is the secret, this is the way of showing how Sideshow could make great statues in extreme poses while they are full of polystone! So the body is PVC, am I giving 400$ to the base and a face? Anyway this is mixed media and I am not a fan of clothes which are covered all the body cause it is the way of making easy money! But now the body is PVC, this is twice to make easy money! Holly god, are you all rich or am I the only one who earn my money too hard!
Sideshow is a company who is making statues which are based on polystone! Gentle Giant, Pop Culture, Arh Studios, even Koto are producing polystone statues! There is no way of assuming in this job!!!

not a fan of this new trend,,they used to do solid statues, then partially hollow, then eggshell & now PVC, it's like the evolution but backward!

All the while they arrogantly ignors the complaints from the customers.

Bruce, I am really wondering your true opinion about this PVC thing? I know you love Sideshow so really tell me your thoughts! At least you try to explain this to me! Someone has to explain, ha?

It wasn't a given the figure would be PVC - the Cinemaquette 1/3 Reeve is basically supported in the same way and is resin. But this does seem to be the go-to method now with fully clothed figures that don't have sculpted capes. Personally I'm all about the cloth - so if a clothed figure looks better this way - go for it Sideshow.

From the ask sideshow thread in statue forum.

From what I was told regarding this piece (right before the site was updated), the head of the piece is high quality plastic. The water effect will most likely be a clear non-polystone element (though I'm only guessing in regards to the water effect, I'd have to confirm that for sure next week). All the rest of the piece (base and body) are all polystone.

I'm out. :explode:

You know, I came across these pictures (from SDCC) just a while ago and actually made me wonder if the headsculpt was polystone or not.

Frankly, I don't see how this one can't be PVC. Based on the design of the statue. Supes would have to be almost weightless for them to pull it off.

I really like PVC. More people should give it a chance. The PVC 1/4 scale Batman Hot Toys did is wonderful and never shrank in value or demand or quality. I would love PVC PFs. I hope the new Jason and Freddy are PVC. So much less fragile and more lifelike. :)

People are saying "But these are supposed to be museum quality." Please. These aren't a Monet or Van Gogh painting. These are great, highly-detailed COLLECTIBLES. You won't ever catch any of this stuff in a museum at any point. I would be thrilled if Sideshow only used PVC from now on. Provided they use the highest quality, non leaning, time-tested, everything is fine to me. Solid PVC would take care of more weight which would add to luxury. Frankly, I'm sick of telling guests "never touch the statues" for fear they might snap off a finger.

No one complained about the Hot Toys 1/4 scale Batman that turned out awesome. How is this any different? PVC is awesome imo.
