I'm sure SS already has a edition size in mind, and will probably stick pretty close to it, but I'm sure some WL will convert because they aren't going to sell out the whole 750 or whatever the number was. They're going to hold back on some. I've had a couple of my waitlists convert after a year! Whatever the edition size is, I'm betting this won't go back up in-stock.

At first I thought I didn't want these because of the scale...... but then I saw the video and all the lights. They're pretty amazing.

Lucky for me the regular edition is clearly superior to the EX (to my taste.)

Do we have any information on how articulated they are? Do C3PO's legs move or just his arms?

I've never waitlisted anything since we've had the NRD. If my WL doesn't covert, will my order automatically be converted to the Reg or will they have to ask me first? Also, if I cancel my WL for the EX, will I get my NRD back?

You aren't charged the NRD until your WL converts I don't believe. And your waitlist is only for the ex. It won't convert to the regular automatically.

I thought it said I'd be charged for the NRD NOW though.

I'm really hating those seperate bases. :lol

Ordered the regular edition from BBTS for $699.00. I do like the beat up look and the base better than the EX, but they both look great!

Seems odd that there is no description regarding Threepio's articulation. The arms (or one...) seems like it bends at the elbow, or maybe there are swappable arms in different poses? Just seems weird to have the preorder up and no clear word on this breakthrough aspect.

Looks like the left arm at least bends at the elbow and the right more extensively, but they should tell us how many points of articulation there are.

Sideshow has announced that the reg R2-D2 can be placed somewhere on the Tatooine base cause he is not pegged into the base. Does anyone know if the R2-D2 has then the light-up feature the exclusive one has?

Ah, finally, and totally cool - The exclusive comes with both bases.

Guess that explains the price difference.

But it appears you unlike some of us had a notion that this was going up for PO today where I did not. Some days I can be on the site and search everything I need to - others I can't. In a highly anticipated PO like this I think they could have handled it better.

I agree. True, it's not like we had no idea this would probably go up during SDCC time, but like you I never saw that highly vague sneak image. Plus having looked at the site the day before, that was NOT the sneak image. I saw the red image I expected to be Iron Man, instead I get home from work and see that the Droid Ex is long sold out.

Is there a set time for these sales to pop up? Or is it random at your own risk?

Random at your own risk. The regular preview and wait time doesn't apply during SDCC. Crap can hit whenever.

I obviously wanted this more than you. That's all I can really say I guess.

That might be a bit unfair. There are many people who didn't see the teaser you provided. I know I didn't. There was also no email like with the random Marvel Hawkeye PF from Monday. There was also an extremely small window to order this. I think if those of us who were working or doing something important with our kids had a way to order we would have. Doesn't mean anyone wants it more or less, it's just unfortunate for those of us that missed out, that's all. I check the site every chance I get and still missed out. More $ for DC and Marvel.

I hope there will be more hint for the upcoming Batman and Superman PF. I can't be stay at midnight to early morning just to monitor these.

Hi all, i'm a huge Sideshow collector from London in the UK and mainly collect 1/4 PF's and the occasional Comiquette/Maquette. I have been watching the progress of the R2/C3PO closely on the Sideshow website and the Freaks Forum so i expected the pre-order to arrive yesterday as it did. I recieved the Sideshow email alert last night (declaring the availability of the Pre-Order for both the Regular and the Exclusive Versions) around 18.48 (UK time) and by the time i had clicked on the link it took me to the Regular Version with the classic Tatooine base and the weathered droids - my first thoughts initially was, is this the Exclusive? I therefore went back to the original page and noticed there was an exclusive! Once the page had loaded for the exclusive i noticed the flash alert in red font..."hurry, last 50 remaining!".....now at this point, as most of you probably experienced, i was left with a massive decision...i love the regular tatooine base but then i really love the new paint look....WHAT TO DO??? PANIC???? i then went back to the Exclusive page and notice that the flash alert now read "hurry, last 20 remaining". Therefore i came to the conclusion that the fact the exclusive is selling this fast will mean that without doubt that it will become a grail piece and also in time will reach the heights in value that we have seen with statues such as the Optimus Prime Maquette Exclusive and the Doom PF Exclusive. Anyway, i pre-ordered the exclusive at 18:54 UK Time!!!!! Thanks Sideshow for giving me the luxury of all 6 minutes to make my decision (although i have to say it felt like 30 seconds!!!) As soon as i had completed my order, out of curiousity i went back onto the exclusive page and noticed that between me deciding which version to get and placing my order that the red alert now showed as "hurry, last 20 remaining!". Geez, that was close!

I predict the edition number of the R2/C3PO exclusive to be between 150 and 250 and although i have contemplated many times to cancel my order and pre order the regular edition shows what a great statue both of these editions are...i am still torn as to which version is better?! Although i am lucky enough to be in the position of having ordered the exclusive so im pretty sure that i can pick up the regular version later in the year of 2013 and own both versions - theres no way in hell that i'd be able to own the Exclusive version if i had ordered the regular yesterday, at least i wont be able to purchase it next year at the same price! I can imagine those who have purchased the exclusive to sell on for profit will rake it in! Anyway, for those who purchased either of the 2 versions i believe its a WIN/WIN situation! They both have so much quality and both look amazing! Congrats!

What's PPO? Priority pre order??? How's that work?

That's whats it called. Basically when it was a PPO, it was usually held on Friday at 10am. There has been some pretty good PPOs like Darth Talon pF & Wolverine PF. SSC also did Bowen FB statues before too. The stuff would take minutes to sellout and causing mass panic because the SSC website would be so slow. Ahhh the good old days that is long gone now :lol

After looking at the pics more closely, it seems both Threepio arms do bend at the elbows, swivel at the wrists and shoulders, and spin at the shoulders. The little rod actuators are all practical (slide in slots and telescope,) which is amazing The neck is ball joint but the waist doesn't appear to move, nor anything on the legs.

One odd thing is that threepio's left upper arm is on backwards - well, technically, they have reused the same part for both upper arms, which will certainly not be the case on the final product. His left upper arm is missing a prominent rectangular detail in the pics.

I'm in for the reg version..I really dig that these droids are not factory fresh looking...:) Also would never display them on the round pedestal base. Just my personal preference. Also I don't think we will get these guys in Jan., I'm sure it will be April, or June... seems anything I see at SDCC in July, usually gets here right before the SDCC...:) Fine with me more time to save!

I'm wondering if you will be able to remove both the droids from their respective bases? For example if one could create a custom base, would these droids be able to stand freely? I'm also thinking that these droids have the connector peg which slots into the base, thus enabling them to work their respective light up features, like the Vader PF. If this is the case are the pegs permanently attached? Hopefully, this will all be explained at the SDCC. :dunno

I think it's sort of dumb that SS now buries the exclusive link and makes it difficult to find. I know it's in this thread and I can find it via twitter, but why not have a link to the Ex. from the Reg. page?

That's what did me in. I failed to realize there was an ex and clicking on the normal link

no but it is a bit strange a tbd would sell out this fast. The only time that happened was with joker ex and even that took more than 1 day if i remember.

The joker ex was a normal tbd though, basically ss had an oh **** moment when they realized the # of orders were already above 1000 and had to close out the preorder right now before the ES got out of hand. So it went into soldout with a TBD, it wasnt until later when they had more time that they finally figured out the es.

But this is definitely is strange, despite the popularity of the character & star wars, it's still a $750 statue, i cant imagine many people ordered it especially since sideshow didnt even announce it. The link/photo etc..all pointed to the regular edition.

So not sure what is going on or how it got soldout so fast, it's definitely an odd situation.

I think Rogue sold out faster than the Joker?! I remember being upset when I got home and missed out on Rogue only afterwards did I find out it was a blessing in disguise. This is the fastest sell out to date I think now.
Anyways I'm happy I have at least the reg set coming and if my WL converts I will take both sets. Who knows they will probably become a grail down the road and be perfect trade bait. I'm still hunting for a Scout on speederbike PF. Once again my hunt has been delayed because of all the sweetness SSC is putting out these days.
