EX is where it's at! :) classier look.

I Kinda sorta agree. 3PO will look classier. But at the same time the Reg edition looks more like mini versions pulled right from the film while the EX look like every other version of the Droids out there.

I also can't get past the two bases for the EX. Big mistake IMO.

I really could go for either of these. But I guess for me it plays out like this.

Reg has

- More film acurate look for original trilogy (all three films) R2 also just looks better with carbon scoring :)

- Has the better base. You can place the droids closer together which is a big Plus IMO.

- Looks to come with restraining bolts

EX has

- Clean droids which is a big plus for 3PO and not so much for R2

- two seperate round bases - A Huge negative IMO

My vote has to go with the Reg.

Who are you fooling anyways Gruson. You will be selling these and collecting pop culture foot wear from the movies this time next year anyways ;)

I just thought of this. How long does it take for people to get the reg editions after people get the EX editions??? If it's like a month that may take care of my buying two and returning one.

I think it's sort of dumb that SS now buries the exclusive link and makes it difficult to find. I know it's in this thread and I can find it via twitter, but why not have a link to the Ex. from the Reg. page?

So I went on BBTS to order the regular version and I was pretty surprised to see that it sold out a minute or two after I ordered. Of course, them not require a deposit probably had a lot to do with it, but still you might want to think about securing a preorder soon, even with the regular edition.

My order when through just fine. I assume they ordered some more, after they saw the demand?

I'm ready for The Mike to have a new sig avatar...

It'll be soon. I get tired of my ladies sooner than the people who look at them in my posts. I'm already looking for the next one.

I'll say it: This release is a total cluster, so far.

It seems that way, I've never seen one piece in recent times deliver this much confusion, passion, anger and adulation. I'm amazingly shocked a piece with such a high pricepoint sold out so quickly. We'd better be careful when Chewbacca hits.

They do that for every "sold out" item.

The exclusive link is still there if you use the drop down menu on the left side under Shop and Collect, Star Wars, Latest Releases.

Just playing devil's advocate here so don't get mad...

...but what other things? It's a booth at SDCC. There are limited functions. As someone who's worked a booth there (and a darn busy one with lots of products) for a decade.... you pretty much take orders and talk about product/answer questions. The set-up is done. I know Sideshow passes out GCs and holds some booth contests, but I can't imagine those were so demanding they had to stop taking orders to divert employee hours to help in those areas.

Not taking orders there means one thing... less employees working. Less overhead in the way of salaries, hotel reservations, food etc. same with not offering attendee pickup of exclusives. It's a cost cutting method. And let me say there's nothing wrong with that. But let's call it what it is.

Can't wait to see you all down there!! Still gonna be a blast!

But orders will still (as has been the case for years) will still be accepted on the show floor for items that are available for Pre-Order or In-Stock at the time of the show.

How can it not? You can't pick up your "exclusives" there now. You won't see anything that hasn't already been shown online. You won't even be able to pre-order certain items there... because they're already sold out.

For all we know they've probably also done away with The Doors of Indecision & stuff.l

Not always the case. There is always the possibility that orders COULD be taken for items that have sold out prior to the show (that decision will be made right before the show begins). There will, however, be items on display that will not be available for order at the time of the show (not online and not on the show floor) as they won't be quite ready to begin solicitation.

I think many at the show will be pleasantly surprised by the amount of items you'll get to see in completed form at the show that you will not see prior to the show (example: upcoming new Darth Vader Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure). There are some good in progress shots of that item, but really it's people who attend the show that will get to see it in it's completed form first. This will be the case for MANY items. Just FYI.

:)

Giveaways and games will still be happening at the booth as well this year. This includes the infamous Doors of Indecision!

I have been with Sideshow since 04 and I just need to express my complete dissatisfaction with the ordering process with these Premium Formats. In all the years that I have been a customer I have missed my fair chair of statues, figures, etc. and it has been cool, but these were on the top of my list as most wanted. Specifically the version that was promoted; the clean ones (Exclusive). For these SW iconic characters to come up in this way, unannounced and not in the traditional priority Pre-Order method was a shock to me. I mean you have other iconic characters from other licenses on Priority PO but not these? Come on!

Also the fact that the Ex edition size of these important characters, was TBD and from what I’m reading they sold in about 1 hour was appalling. TBD really?, really? Don’t you guys think these ones were so legendary as to deserve a higher edition size. I know my post is not going to change matters and I’m on the waiting list as a second options but, I would have prefer to take advantage of your so famous and well promoted Flex Pay program that you are so proud of. Instead, if my reservation converts, I will have to pray and see if I can pay the painful full price at the time of conversion.

I just needed to let you guys know about how one of your customers feels. You have a great company, offer great products and overall are excellent but, respectfully, you drop the ball on these ones. Big time! Considering who they are!!!

Want to have your cake and eat it too? Pick up the Kotobukiya Droids Statue.

Clean and Classy? Check.
Yavin Base? Check.
One base for both? Check.

Then you pick up the Regular Sideshow PF for the weathered look.

I kinda feel like a devils advocate, maybe its because I missed out on the Star Wars EX earlier but do you mean like Rogue?

Having gotten that off my chest. If I ever am lucky enough to get to SDCC (plans for next year) there is no booth I look forward to seeing more than Sideshows.

Wow, missed this by a long shot. I got home from work and saw the EX was up and Sold Out. I love Comic Con time but this is the only part I don't like. I can't not work. I jumped on the waitlist for the EX, but...

The reg breaks down to $375 per figure. The EX breaks down to $388 per figure. Lights or not, that's a lot of money for each one when you break it down. They shouldn't have been more than $700 at the "regular" PF price of $350. Even if there's a low chance of converting since I imagine many jumped on the WL before me, I might not stay on the list long enough to find out. These are overpriced.

Well, that's good to hear. I think you gotta have some incentive and perks for attendees. :duff

Interesting. I hope this is the case. Yay or nay, how will we know what decision has been made right before the show begins? Will there be an announcement or should we just bug the reps at the booth?
