Wave 3 news, kinda.

This was copy and pasted from Pixar Planet forums by user Doomseeker. I edited some of the unnecessary stuff out, just an fyi. Ive also bolded the important stuff.

Just wanted to give you guys my view on what I saw today at the UK toy fair.

I headed straight to Vivid's stand (Vivid are the distributor for Thinkway toys in the UK) And saw....well it was awesome. The first Toy I saw was Zurg, now I first saw Zurg at toy fair 2 years ago before the TSC line launched which also included (although we have been told he's not part of the line and won’t be) Hamm. At that time Zurg was slated for a TSC launch. The Zurg I saw today looked awesome and would be a great addition to the line but alas isn't, the proto box that was next to this toy was a U-COMMAND like the current Buzz toy, shame but it still looked awesome!

Next was Mr Pricklepants, he looked ace really good and the box was mega, the box looks like velvet curtains...really cool and was branded TSC.

Twitch was next and to be honest looked very similar to the existing toy but with better paint apps and his staff, the box was nothing special but again was TSC branded

BIG BABY!!!! really surprised by this.....especially as it's an as new Big Baby like in the film, no broken eye, no tattoos etc... a perfect brand new baby, I didn't like it but hey sure some of you guys will dig it, again this was TSC branded.

Dolly and Buttercup were next....Dolly looks great but the box was a bit bland, buttercup looked OK but not much different to the current DS offering. Both TSC branded.

The big surprise...Woody, Jessie and Buzz all wearing Hawaiian clothing....my guess is that it somehow ties in with the Ken and Barbie short that will be shown with Cars 2????
Interestingly some of the toys were prototypes only...my guess is that they are not guaranteed for production and are there to gauge retailer interest (that's what the show is for)toys that were prototype only include.....Big Baby, Buttercup and Dolly. Here's hoping they don't end up like Hamm.

not really fussed with big baby tbh, i rather have the original crew first before any of the extended cast. Although priklepants and buttercup wiuld be interesting. Glad to hear zurg will b in the next wave...am still hoping for a Hamm, Mrs Potato head and of course Slinky! Bo-peep would also be a bonus!

He has a line er two when they pull Ken away from barbie in the hallway and inside the snack machine I think.

I too am bummed about Zurg not being TSC, but at the same time he might translate pretty well to a U-command. it was planned to be TSC at one time, and this will apparently be the same sculpt. so the main thing is how much accuracy was sacrificed to accommodate the U-command features. obviously the movie accurate box is out, and somewhere they have to put an IR sensor. maybe it can be hidden in the mouth grill? and I doubt it has Zurg vision. everything else could be pretty accurate, from scale to articulation. He even has wheels in the movies so they won't have to modify him like they had with the Buzz U-command. His skirt design really helps with that.

Big Baby will be interesting to see what people do to mess it up like it is in the movie. Really interesting.

And I don't know if any of you follow Lee Unkrich's twitter (director of Toy Story 3) but he revealed a few 3D reproductions direct from the original Pixar data. Sound familiar? Well... it's because Thinkway has boasted the same thing. But these look way better!

I don't do statues, but these are gorgeous. Makes me wish hot toys could take a crack at this license.

Those statues do look really good, but like Runawaybrain, I don't buy statues.

As for the TSC Wave 3 news... wow. Very disappointing for me, especially since we already got pretty good versions of Dolly, Pricklepants and Twitch in the past. Very surprised at Big Baby, and equally surprised that Prospector hasn't shown up. I really hope Zurg gets a new box in time for release, and I hope he at least has a firing Ion Blaster. Big bummer that he's U-Command, not TSC.

I've been waiting half a year for good news about TSC Wave 3... and while some of these toys sound alright, all this stuff does is make me hunger for a fourth wave (which is highly unlikely). I agree with some of you guys about the original characters being needed most - for me it isn't really a Toy Story Collection if core characters like Bo Peep, Prospector and Hamm aren't in it.

Right, I don't do statues either. My point was mainly as a comparison of sculpt that Thinkway did using the same data. Just shows that even if you have the official data... executing it into a toy can change it significantly. It's kind of a bummer. I'm more or less okay with Woody and Buzz, but look at the Lotso's. Those are WAAAY off.

With toys like buzz they can convert 3d prints to use as a base for the real toy. its entirely different with plush characters just due to the nature of the materials. you can't 3d print with fabric to my knowledge, so the best they could do was take measurements, using a 3d print or even just the data itself, still in the computer as reference for measurements. They could do a more realistic lotso but it would requre them to build it more like a Muppet, which would be expensive.

I'd pay. It don't need electronics. It just needs to look accurate.

I def would shell out for a movie accurate Lotso. I remember when Master Replicas did the muppets and they looked phenomenal. I still haven't even got a Lotso yet. :lol
