That wasn't his fault. Blame Sommers and the suits at Paramount and Hasblo for that abortion. Hama gotta eat!

Yeah I just double checked and he wrote a short-lived ongoing series about Storm Shadow for Devil's Due. I have no idea how it factored into their "universe" but I certainly hope it doesn't bleed into the new issues in any way, shape, or form.

:tap Well, the bastard sure as hell kept his yap shut while they perverted nearly every aspect of each character portrayed in the film, characters he nurtured from the start. So he gets part of the blame for accepting hush money and sitting on his hands. He should've pulled an Allan Moore and been overly vocal about the raping.

That's Hollywood for you. I know all about that. When Producers and Suits take over creative control you can be sure that a trainwreck will ensue.

It can't effect the new issues, his storm shadow series was set as a side story to Devil's Due's main Joe book at the time. It was basically what Storm Shadow was doing during that time frame as he wasn't in the main book.

I am hesitant regarding picking up where the old Marvel Comics series left off.

Towards the end of the Marvel Comics series . . . the plot/storyline IMHO really strayed and I felt it ended on a lackluster/sub-par basis.

When Devil's Due published their initial take on the series . . . it was good, but they too really strayed to the point of the plot/storyline and characters becoming too distant . . . basically a caricature of the original source material. Granted, Hama did provide some new material, but I felt his material was definitely not the same caliber as his original run with Marvel Comics.

IDW . . . I stopped collecting/reading their issues because quite frankly . . . I don't find it relevant and it does not have any real direction IMHO.

After all this . . . WHY a restart from where the Marvel Comics series left off. After all this time . . . I don't know . . . maybe a reboot/retcon is in order, but that too have many issues.

I collected all the comics back in the day and I have a few reservations myself. I don't know if its the poor track record of every title since the marvel series has been really lackluster or just not being into comics now days. It seems all the comic book stores dried up. Do they still offer subscriptions?

I agree with you on pretty much everything here. Devils Due started out pretty strong as a nice continuation of Marvel, but especially at the point of the America's Elite reboot the series got silly. Hama's work for them wasnt all bad, his G.I Joe declassified was decent, but his Storm Shadow work wasn't so hot.

IDW is 13 issues into thier ongoing and I'm still not sure what's going on, it all seems long and drawn out. And Origins doesn't even seem to be what it originally was intended to be which was Hama's chance to reboot G.I Joe the way he wanted. Maybe because he's being forced to make it fit into IDW's main book I don't know.

The whole idea of IDW's book was it was a re-launch it was a re-boot it had nothing to do with Marvel or Devils Due, it was their own thing. So another Reboot would be useless. IDW just like to saturate the market with as much product as possible from any given franchise.

Here's a six page preview for anyone interested:

So this comes out on Free comic book day huh? I'll definatley grab one then. I'm afraid I wasn't around for the original series run so I'm totally out of the loop, but this can't be worse than that Bond villian Cobra Commander we saw a few months back :lol

The Cobra series so amazing I really can't excited about anything else anymore. I will probably pick up an issue or two and see how I like it but not holding out much hope. The four issues of Cobra were better than the last 15 years of Joe stories put together imo.
