I have yes, and his eyes still don't look like this figure. It'd look much better if they just didn't bother with the rolling eyeballs feature.

If you're gonna try and change my mind, don't use pictures that just solidfy my opinion.

Yep, the prototype looks almost perfect, this does not.
No I would never try to change your mind. I just think you're hilarious. [emoji38]

Not defending any company, but we all know that production pieces rarely look as good as the protopye, don't we?

And I really think the eyes are far from being "horrible".

I wouldn't display him with the hat on though...

I think it's hilarious how many people cant handle someone elses opinion about their barbie dolls.
End of the day it really doesnt matter as I'll be happy with the figure. The fact that you won't be has no effect on that. I just find the childish response of "horrible" laughable. Laughing at such a silly response is all. [emoji38]

All photos look great so far, the hair I’ll work on sane with my star ace dumbledore some people did a terrible job with his hair once styled right really pops, although star ace put far too much hair in, asmus first Gandalf had far too little it was like 20 strands and looked bald if not wearing his hat, really struggled to style that, this figure hair and beard is perfection, the pipe is there the staffs look more movie accurate this time, the robe looks great hangs loads nicer more natural looking.
The eyes in some photos look a little off but that’s the photo I’m sure it’ll look great in hand, the hat is ... mmmm a choice. Every photo so far the hat doesn’t look good, but I’m sure it’s an easy fix.
If they was worried about damage to the sculpt could have a two part hat separate bottom then magnetic top or even a bigger hole underneath, I’m waiting to see how cutting the hole out improves the angle.

Overall I’m happy with what I’m seeing.

Will they use the same sculpts for gtw ? Maybe it was same actor shot at the same time, mckellen only changed in the hobbit looked a little different so Gandalf the white is just a new costume and been to the barber a clean bread and straight hair.

I think the problem is that Asmus set the expectation high with that perfect prototype.

While they achieved like 80% for the production pieces, people are expecting perfection...

For 290 EUR shipped, people must be reminded that we are still getting the best likeness of Gandalf in a figure and that awesome rooted hair and beard with a diorama.

I'd hardly class using the word "horrible" as a criticism as childish, but sure. The eyes and the hat just don't do the rest of the figure justice, especially when the prototype looks this good. I just don't see how anyone can look at the final product next to the prototype and not see that the eyes are really missing the mark.

If you honestly think the images I posted still reflect a "horrible" sculpt/eyes then there's really not much else to say. It may not be as good as the proto (that's still questionable as we have just seen pics) but I wasn't expecting proto level anyway. And this is by far the best rendition of GTG we have ever gotten or will probably ever get. I'm stoked as all hell for this figure.

Now the hat is a totally different story...now if you would have said the hat was horrible...then I'd agree with you on that one.

This is a discussion board. That is kind of what we do here. *shrugs*

I prefer to not have articulated eyes, I understand the effects it has on a likeness. But meh, it looks fine. I would be more concerned about the poofy hat than the eyes...

The two things that stand out to me from those photos are the hat and the faux hair. (Difficult to see the eyes, so I'll hold out on commenting on them.)

The hat doesn't look good when on the figure. It's like it is floating on top of the head. Mine will definitely not be wearing the hat. Shame to lose a display option, though. Perhaps cutting into the inside of the hat may help, without damaging the hair.

The beard is just too spread out. The "frizzy-ness" is fine but needs to be less spread out. The same goes for the hair. I think this is just a futz issue.

I hope to receive a shipping notice soon but nothing yet...

Whoever did that hair and beard has no clue whatsoever, they have brushed it until its become frizzy.
You just dampen it down to get the effect of the prototype its not hard :slap

Thank you, I was trying to post something similar but I guess I?m too new or not enough of an archeologist to figure out how to post photos here.

Making my own custom figures has opened my eyes to how off some people?s perception is from reality. The reality here is that McKellen has some of the thickest eyelids/folds over his eyes I?ve ever seen. Without proper lighting even his actual eyes look inhuman.

With the figure and the real actor you can see bright blue when there is adequate light filling the surface of the eyeballs. Every photo of the figure I?ve seen with fill light on the eyes has looked near perfect IMO.

We will see what it looks like in hand but I see no reason to think it will be worse than the prototype.

Can display the figure without the hat at least, cant display it without the eyes.

Wait, where did you order this for that amount? Looks like I got shafted by my LCS.
