Hi guys, is the right tusk supposed to be battle damaged or is the paint off on mine?

If your speaking of the very end tips, mine are the same

Yeah, mine are all silver at the tip ends as well. No black paint at all

Yes but I should not need to do that on a $600 collectible.

For that price the paint application should be perfect.

It shouldn't be, but still the problem you have is one of the easiest fixes there are. Even easier than gluing up the tusk if broken. There are damages that are way harder to fix, some even impossible, this is not one of them, it would take less than one minute to do it. Just take a bit of silver paint and fix it, you'll feel better afterwards

Lol. If I had any artistic talent whatsoever, I would do both. Then I would have a spare to experiment on.

This I don't understand. NRD is to make sure you don't cancel an order too easily, how does it relates to a quality issue and asking for a replacement? By the way I'd be more then happy to exchange my imperfect lower mask with a perfect lower mask.

It is because people asked replacements for anything, no matter how small the damage was, sometimes even when there was no real damage. Just look in various threads all over this forum or on FB and see what I mean. But you do whatever you want. The easiest way it to simply put a bit of silver paint on the tusk and call it even, but you can ask for replacement or some $ (though you could end up with a worse product). It is your figure in the end.

Can't wait to see the finished product agonistes86! Your a lot braver than I would ever be! I don't think I would ever have the nerve, or talent, to ever mod his mask/helmet.

@KirBayBey: I customized my 1:6 kaiyodo Vader and HT ANH Vader, which I now feel were the trial runs to work on this one. At 1:4, you have a lot more room to work with, which should make it easier. On the other hand, flaws will be more visible, so I guess the relative amount of detail and quality needs to be the same.
