The sequel X-Men: Apocalypse has been announced and will be released on May 27, 2016.

So obviously the events of this movie are pointless... :lol :dunno

Should have waited on that accouncement, won't see this is a theatre now.

Not neccessarily. If the movie unfolds with them preventing the Sentinel future then anything is up for the future movies.

Or this could be the last hurrah for the original cast and all future movies could have the First Class timeline.

Or there could be two series of movies one set innthe 80s with the First Class team and another series setin the future.

So is this now going to be a First Class sequel or a sequel with the OG cast? And if it's the latter, is Jackman on board or is he still holding out?

Could be cool if they don't totally cheap out as they've done up to now and Apocalypse is CGI. Probably it'll just be a big guy in blue make-up, though... :monkey4

Doubt it.

1. It's X-Men, and not just the past cast or future cast but both, including audience favourite Wolverine.

2. It's gonna have giant robots and sci-fi actiion, it'll make money on just that alone

3. Even if it bombs they have like four or five years before it goes back

:exactly: Plus isn't Deadpool just about ready, with another Wolverine all but confirmed? Those're easy resets on the time limit.

Fox is doing a new Fantastic Four just to avoid the rights from lapsing back to Marvel. I doubt they care too much if it's good, just so long as it gives good trailer and puts butts in seats.

X-Men might have an uneven history at Fox but it's not going anywhere. The only way you'll see X-Men and Avengers together is if guys like Jackman and Downey push for it.

This is true but they could easily make a crappy movie for a million bucks with no-name actors and directors just to keep the rights.

They know a better movie can get more butts in seats and thus more money in their pockets.

Word of mouth, particularly with this sub-genre and especially now is important, they'd get more return with a good word of mouth and the only way to do that is to try to make the best movie they can.

No studio sets out to make a crappy movie, with the current trend of superhero movies you can bet they're gonna want to turn Fantastic Four into a sustainable franchise.

Whether or not they will is the question. Either way it won't be made for the Comic fans it'll be made for movie going audiences based on trends of the movie going public to make the best profit.

I'd estimate it's about a four out of six ratio for audiences.
