I think some people are making a little too much of this. I,for one, don't blame you for wanting more likeness though I don't think willow is that far off in the statue. Sure, she is probably dressed sexier than she appeared on the show but the proportions really aren't that far off. This picture has her dressed somewhat similar to the statue. You are gonna tell me that sideshow exaggerated her so much that it is preventing you from buying the statue? Oh, and it's no secret that guy's love sexy girls but attacking them for buying the statue for that reason is not really the way to go IMO.

It seems that the sculpt and the way in which the woman is portrayed is more faithful than I originally believed. I am referring to the pic posted in the message I am quoting.

Point is, that teens wearing make up at an early age is I believe to be a gateway to the sexual objectification of women to an unnecessary and avoidable degree.
Yes, it takes two to tango, but I think that it is unfair not to point out that in your argument that girls can walk around with make up on giving the come hither look all day long, and boys and men are supposed to totally ignore this and control themselves and keep it in their pants and make no attempt to approach. Girls wearing make up put out the mating call to all, and then expect all males to be on their BEST behavior? It's too much to ask for some males.

OMG, seriously WTF?? Men not heard of self control then?

Just ignore Bt, he scours the board trying to turn threads into endless and irrelevant debates.

I like this piece but just not enough to buy it.
Willow was always my favourite character on BTVS but while the sculpt is good and the likeness in the facial sculpt is there (a little) to me it is not a good representation of the character.
So I will save my pennies.

Congrats to all that got her though, it is indeed a very nice sculpt and will look great in any collection :rock

And I find that a shame. Another wasted opportunity for Sideshow imo.

Yeah, me too to be honest. I was so looking forward to a Willow piece and while I don't own any Buffy collectables, I love the series and I was going to get the Willow piece, provided it portrayed who she was/is you know what I mean :lol.
Ah well, hopefully this line will do well. If it does we may see variants so I will keep my fingers crossed

We shall just have to wait and see I guess.

From what I've seen of Faith I like so far though. So I'm looking forward to the full reveal of 'firecracker'.

Blackthornone's mindset sounds like girls dressing sexy are "asking" to get raped IMHO. I could be wrong.

Anyways, I think this statue has an amazing head sculpt but the outfit and pose is just all wrong and doesn't capture the character at all. when I think of high school and college Willow(i'm guessing thats what they are going for because of the werewolf), all I can picture are her overalls and baggy shirts. also, the way its painted reminds me more of Allison Hannigan in HIMYM then in Buffy, with the dark eye shadow and being fairly tanned.

I am more of a 1\6th guy but I am glad they are still making items for die hard fans, and at the end of the day, it only matters if the people that buy this are happy.

I said earlier that self control is involved. Furthermore, in the particular post you quoted, I said that it is too much to ask of SOME males to have self control, not all. The vast majority DO have self control. I am saying that it is logically inconsistent to set a cause in motion that you do not wish to take to it's ultimate end.

No, asking for consensual sex. Wearing make up implies that a woman is in the mood. There is a big difference between consensual sex and rape. Wearing make up is a form of seduction, and I don't have a problem with that so long as it is appropriate to have sexual thoughts about the female wearing it, otherwise, I think that the make up is out of place, sort of like a nun with a condom ad on her habit. Its a mixed message. I respect authenticity. Figure out what you want to represent or be and do what is consistent with that, but don't say you believe in one thing and then DO the opposite.

Why does a particular change in the coloring of a woman's face make her look more attractive with make up? Why does the made up look provoke such an automatic inherent pleasant response to that look? The obvious answer is that it represents a look that women naturally have under certain circumstances that are very positive. The idea that make up makes a woman look like she is having sex is NOT my personal theory. It was explained in a program I saw on The Learning Channel. It makes sense to me.
I have also heard that make up was originally worn by prostitutes, obviously, to improve business. If THAT is true, it says everything that needs to be said about the original purpose and intrinsic purpose of make up being to sexually objectify women. Being "the world's oldest profession" perhaps that is why there is an association between the made up look and women's financial and commercial success.
I am not strongly against make up or the sexual objectification of women, but I am objective enough to admit it is there when it is.
A lot of people don't like to admit things are true just because to do so would make them uncomfortable. I am not. I acknowledge a truth no matter how uncomfortable it might be. I then make a decision as to whether I will continue to support the thing I learned a truth about or not, and weigh the advantages and disadvantages of either, but I won't deny the truth of something just because it forces me to reevaluate my priorities, which opens the door to the possibility of personal change. Change is usually uncomfortable unless a person isn't already uncomfortable from the thing to be changed to begin with. Thus, if people have never had a personal problem or disadvantage from wearing make up, they will avoid any acknowledgment of any disadvantage or uncomfortable truths there might be about it. That doesn't mean that there aren't any. It just means they will not admit the truth about that thing. Just because wearing make up is a widely accepted cultural convention does not mean that it isn't a form of sexually objectifying women. A lot of feminists would agree with me on that. However, I like make up women, therefore it logically follows that I also like the sexual objectifying of women, otherwise, I would be a hypocrite. Sure, in a vacuum, as an abstract concept without context, I might say, hmm, the sexual objectification of women, that doesn't sound so good, I really don't think I can support that. But then it occurs to me that I like women wearing make up and sexy female statues and think, hmm, well then I guess I DON'T have a problem with the sexual objectification of women. Oh well. Madison avenue does it with men just like women, so I don't really see a double standard about it, therefore, sexual objectification is not sexist, because each sex is objectified, therefore there is no discrimination, and thus, no sexism.

It's a whole lot easier for me to pull the trigger on statues based on Comic book figures because it is a total interpretation from 2D to 3D, but for some reason statues on real people, "almost" just doesn't cut it for me. I love BTVS and all the characters but neither of these statues do it for me. I am happy for all the collectors out there getting her and who have gotten Buffy on the throne but, for me it's an easy pass.

So, you wear make-up when you feel "in the mood", ok, we get it!!!

On a side note, you are being an ignorant. Make up has been used by men since ancient times. By the Egiptians, by warrior tribes, for religious ceremonies...only a fool would think that Wearing make up implies that a woman is in the mood.

You should watch less television/porn, it is not doing any good on you
