He lived a good long life but I am saddened that I no longer share the planet with such a legend.

Is this the same Rankin as the partnership of Rankin and Bass, who did all those fantastic animated feature-length movies around the seventies and eighties. Wind in the willows for example?

I'm glad to have it fresh in my mind as Christmas season starts. Rudolf is my earliest memory of watching a feature length presentation.
