Damn. Loved him, specially in the end when he became Jeff Nichols' muse. Such a presence. He was perfect as Mendelsohn's pops in Bloodline.
 
I met him once at Biscuits and Blues in San Francisco.We talked Music,he was a big Jazz,Blues and Folkie fan.He played Drums,Guitar and Banjo.Wrote songs with Bob Dylan and John Cole.
An amazing talent gone too soon.
 
Such a talented man. Loved watching him in everything he was in. Seemed like a nice guy in real life too. Sad to hear about his passing.
 
I loved him as a supporting actor and it was always a pleasure when he'd pop up in something I was watching in recent years. That being said, I'm ashamed to say I had no idea he was such a prolific and talented writer. 73 isn't exactly old and ALS is a rough way to go. He will be missed. RIP.
