Question - darkening clothing

Hey guys and gals. Was wondering how you all darken your clothing? Was thinking of using a wash to darken up pants a bit but since I've zero experience doing it, I'd pose a general question. Thanks.

I've never actually done it before but people in the Saruman thread are using diluted coffee to darken his. Look on the LOTR page on the last page or 2 of the Saruman thread for pointers.

I used breakfast tea on my Snake Plissken pants, looks much better.

Tea & coffee.
Shades brightest - darkest: green tea-> earl grey -> Ceylan -> coffee

Also pastels and/ or watercolors diluted in water, painted onto the clothes.
