Besides having some teaser images of their upcoming Attack of the Clones Clone Trooper helmet, and Ralph Mcquarrie Darth Vader concept helmet, eFX announced that their original pre-order date for the 500 piece Stormtrooper helmet run has been canceled. Here's what eFX has to say :

As many of you know, we had originally announced that the pre-order day for our very first product, the Stormtrooper Helmet, was to be on May 5, 2008. However, since eFX is a brand new company, we are going to initiate many new groundbreaking ideas that some many even consider "sacrilege" since they will break some old "traditions". We have decided to scratch the whole pre-order process and establish a WORLDWIDE on-sale date when the product will be available the same day whether you are on Los Angeles, Tokyo or London! We will try to announce the availability date at least 30 days in advance. We think that our collectors will appreciate and like this new process.
Be able to see images of the actual product before you purchase
Allows you to better plan your finances since you will know exactly when your credit card will be charged
Eliminates the frustration of waiting an uncertain amount of time before you actually receive your product.
It seems the email newsletters going out have random images showing new eFX products. Known so far are :
Ralph McQuarrie Concept Darth Vader helmet
Episode 2 Clone Trooper helmet
Episode 4 Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber

How is no one discussing the fact that they are doing same day availability! No PreOrders in the old sense just a 30 day heads up off of the bat! Wow!

Dealing with Lohan they'll be more crabs than just the walk.

Oh, and between just these 3 products (or, 4 if you count the Stormtrooper bucket) I see about $1,600 burning a hole in my wallet.

It's cool but with Sideshow, Hot Toys and Medicom also on my plate and many other collectors in a similar situation, even like 45-60 days would be better, a month can still be tight to save up money for stuff if you don't know it's coming, or will there be other announcements about the product with a tentative time and when they know for sure the sale date, they'll post a 30 day notice?

Ive always had a hunch with the name eFX (effects) that they were going to go a more "functional" route with their replicas. That OWK ANH just proves it. I hope to see more light up things and circuitries of sorts.

He's talking about the fact that the eFX ANH Obi-Wan saber has a "break-away" feature where you can take the saber apart and see the insides.

Why wouldn't they? They have the Studio Scale License as well, I believe.

They may have the license to produce items that way, but MR may own patent or copyright or whatever on the name "Studio Scale" so eFX would have to call it something else.
