Neca jason 15" statue help

Picked this up today for cheap,looking for advice on how to repair the strap on the mask,I don't have the missing broken part,any ways I could fix this

Put plastic wrap on the head. Smooth layer of vasoline on that. Sculpt new strap with milliput connecting the two pieces. Remove after dried. Clean, sand, paint.
