Just a little freaky
I recently started collecting lord of the rings props in the past 5 months or so. In my search I have been looking for an high elven helm relentlessly, and finally I snagged one on eBay for 400$. I was to excited when the box arrived but when I picked it up it seemed as if it was just the helm in it without and padding/foam/bubble wrap to keep it safe. And when I opened it, it was just as I feared. The helm was in pieces, also the certificate of authenticity torn to shreds. The reason most of this damage happened is because instead of taking the stand apart, they shipped it in one piece. In transit the stand broke apart with the screw still attached sticking out. Destroying and scratching everything in the box. Also the helm was only wrapped with one piece of bubble wrap. So I immediately went to Ebay and received a refund within 24 hours. They also didn't want me to send the helm back. (Probably because of how bad it was) Still very disappointed even with receiving a refund I took it upon myself to try and fix it. I searched the internet for information on how to fix it and went to the hardware store and picked up some epoxy, sand paper and paint. I took some photos of before and after to show everyone. I'm no handy man but I still think it turned out quite well. So for 30$ with everything I had to buy. Epoxy, sandpaper and spray paint this is what I got.
