I'm in Canada too and pay out the nose every time I get a 6th scale from Sideshow which is why I can only get maybe 1 a year - DYING for a CW Cap after having to cancel my AOU Cap twice, but it was Cap or DP, so of course DP - so believe me, I know the pain of paying a LOT for these things only to have to deal with issues. My wife has medical issues, we're tight trying to keep her health-battle going, and my wife likes to get me one of these when she can because of everything I do. Trust me, I'm really hoping this is something that can be dealt with or that's not wide-spread. Being Western Canada, which is just north, costs me A LOT of money to get these things with the ridiculous exchange rate, the ridiculous shipping, the ridiculous EXTRA customs costs....by the time I get this figure, it's going to cost me an extra $100+ more than most of you - obviously my brothers and sisters across the pond share my pain, but you US people should remember you're not the ones paying out the nose and I'm still fine with this because right now it's potential issue, not something definite for all figures in the production line of, what, 5,000?

My heart sank before I even hit play on the video when I heard this was happening. And then I saw it, and before I had the chance to see the other videos I had a good inkling as to why, and then I watched the rest of the videos and they confirmed my thoughts. Now, there's no WAY I'm putting epoxy on the sleeves while the black ball joint is attached. That is part of the wrist bend articulation and I'm not about to screw that up. What I'll do is inspect it upon unboxing, and go from there. I'll more than likely pop off the black ball joint, add my own epoxy to the place where the sleeve folds into the joint to just give it an extra way to stay put where it's meant to be, let that set, then put the black ball joint back in and just take it easy on the trouble area. MAYBE I'll coat the sleave at the wrist with a clear silicone before putting the black ball joint back in, but probably not. Widening the wrist cuffs is a possibility, but I really like to refrain from doing any sort of surgery on my figures.
Hell, my SS Boba Fett, his belt pouches are only glued on one side, so they literally swing out and hang off like he has wings, and I haven't done anything about that yet, one of his knees is insanely tight, can't bend, won't force it - I've brought it up here before and got GREAT advice - and I haven't done anything there yet either. I'm just really wary at making any real modifications to these very expensive collectibles, and not for value or re-sale later, just like to keep my figures as pristine as possible. I've always been that way. I still have all of my old Star Wars toys, and even though I played with them all growing up in the 70s and 80s, they're all actually pretty near mint. Call it OCD. LOL

I think the best course of action would be to wait and see where we're at when the orders start arriving into our grubby little hands, and go from there. I understand the panic because these things cost us a lot. But I don't understand angrily backing out based on the limited amount of information we have right now. Wanting to know where we're at is only truly possible once we all have our figures and we can finally see the extent of this entire issue. I'm sure if it's widespread and bad, SS and HT will do something about it. Like we all keep saying, these suckers ain't cheap! We deserve to get what we are paying for. But even if they don't, we're a smart group, many here are extremely talented, so we'll all figure it out together if we have to. So let's just keep cooler heads, not jump the gun and assume everything's gone to pot when in reality, we could be looking at a few dozen pieces out of a very large batch made up of a few thousand.
We'll all deal with it if or when it happens. But if some of you really have made your minds up already, then by all means cancel. Other people will happily take your figure, as you've seen by posts already. But I personally think that's too knee-jerk and you guys will be kicking yourself because you backed out prematurely instead of waiting to see what actually happens. Hang in there....it'll get sorted one way or the other, and if you end up wanting to sell it, I'm sure you won't have issue finding a buyer. Hell, I may want another one to keep in the box permanently.

I can't see SSC nor HT doing anything if this is an issue that affects all the pieces. It'll be the standard affair of contacting CS, those who were fastest out the gate will get replacements and either destroy their old one or send it back. Those who received theirs later or waited will be told that all of the replacement deadpools are gone and all SSC can do is offer them like $30 credit or they can request a full refund. HT won't do Jack****.

Well.. Then getting a replacement would be useless.

Very sensible post. However I have no experience of dealing with Hot Toys customer service and so I don't know what they would do about a faulty figure. In any event I tend to buy my figures from Ebay or Forbidden Planet.

Living in the UK I expect Hot Toys customer service would prove be an irrelevance as there is no way I would send my figure back to Hong Kong.

Forbidden Planet have pushed the due date for Deadpool back to mid-November, by which time I would hope that if there is a systemic problem with the design of the figure it would have been remedied.

I will keep any eye on the comments from other members of the forum in the meantime so please keep posting!

I feel you on the figures from sideshow. You ever get any from Toys2.net? It's sometimes cheaper then sideshow and a Canadian store in the Greater Toronto Area. Saves on the import fee/shipping

From what I've read on the board HT/SS normally take care of easy fixes. However, when it comes to larger line issues they do very little. It's definitely a wait and see situation for all of us.

I don't really find them to be much cheaper at all. Yeah you're saving like $10 on shipping compared to sideshow but you're paying GST instead of import duty which can be just as much.

The only things I really like about toys2 is that I can sometimes find stuff I can't on sideshow (like all my deadpool cosbabies) and if stuff sells out at the bigger online places, sometimes toys2 may have it in Stock.

I wonder if you could just use a piece of the plastic they give you in the box to protect the paint to line the inside of the glove or wrap the wrist? Wouldn't that eliminate the friction?

Lately I've been getting my figures from toys2, but I live near their physical retail location so I save on s&h. Before, I used to order from toytards.com, which still might be a viable option for you out in Edmonton. They have flat rate s&h across Canada and they have a good reward point system (i recently used up all my reward points with them on Black Panther). Their prices have raised a bit in the last year or two, but I think they're still a good option to check out.

some of the figures are cheaper as compared to sideshow. Example

Civil War Hawkeye is $10 cheaper on toys.net

https://www.sideshowtoy.com/collectibles/marvel-hawkeye-hot-toys-902684/

https://www.toys2.net/Captain-America-Civil-War-1-6th-scale-Hawkeye.html

but like I said, sometimes it is cheaper. As for the import fees, you also have to add the brokerage fee that Fedex usually charges when they import the figures on top of the shipping and import fees.

The only reason I shop from Sideshow was because

A) the exchange was on par
B) They have an exclusive
C) I got enough reward points to make it worth it

Probably not, as that plastic would move around too. It would make the friction worse. I see no reason why epoxy wouldn't fix it. Especially if you widen the hole of the glove a little.

From my experience HT has pretty bad CS taking care of easy fixes. My issue was small and isolated and this was my case:
Way back when I bought the AVP alien a piece was missing. Small rubber thing on it's leg. I knew it was missing because the right leg had it and the left didn't. I emailed HT about it because I got it from my LCS and I even took pictures, and I never even got an email back.

If they didn't have the part I could understand and a cordial email explaining that would have sufficed...but nothing. And if they had the part (which I am sure would cost under $5 to ship) it would have been easy to ship.

Very small part, very small issue - but still, sometimes it's the small things that count and when/if a company goes above and beyond for their costumers, that says a lot about the company. But look I've still spend thousands of dollars on HT since...so they didn't loose a customer - just puts a tarnish on their image from my point of view.

Tried to cancel from SSC but they said I wouldn't get my deposit back. Decided to keep the order. Oh well.. Let's hope for the best with the wrist situation.

Not sure this will fix anything though.

I don't have mine yet, but if there is friction, it's both on the sides AND at the bottom of the gloves. This fixes only the sides unfortunately...

By bottom of the gloves, are you talking about the part inside where the wrist peg plugs into?
