Ya know, if I didn’t already have the Sideshow version I’d get the HONÕ version. As flimsy as the SS body is (and that belt, good grief) it cuts a more imposing silhouette, more “stoic”, I suppose. There are things I like about this over Sideshow’s and vice versa.
-The Present Toys version is...
Quick bump in the name of DOOM.
Just got this in today…and this was the only issue straight out of the box, the dreaded cape clasp. It’s definitely not as much of a disaster as I was thinking, thankfully. I’ll still have to “futz around and find out” how to get the armor straight and not break...
Guys, I had a mildly disturbing thought about all of this…
What if 11.2” IS the standard height for these figures going forward? 😳. Can you imagine the Thor being the same height as Wolverine or Magneto being as tall as your average HT Black Widow? I do wonder if HONŌ will use a variety of body...
This part about HONŌ’s little mission statement stood out to me:
“Rather than definite adherence to on-screen likenesses, the team in HONŌ Studio pursues a path of playfulness and novelty in their works..”
To me, this means none of the “likeness is off/needs work” debates we get into on these...
There are some things I like about this one over Sideshow’s and vice versa (maybe the blue bikini briefs are throwing me off 😄).
…also, I don’t know if anyone’s mentioned this, but peep the silhouettes in the background 👀
Also, my curiosity compelled me to look up a “Custom Dr. Doom” and found this:
This was from about 2 years ago and this guy was charging $700; apparently came with the “blast effects”, extra hands, etc.
So…I watched that same review last night and I could not believe it 😳. I thought I had clicked on a Headless Horseman review by mistake, but no, it was S-Hero’s Doom Monarch!
It’s crazy that any figure from any company could be released with such a high risk of it falling apart as soon as you...
It’s cool, but…not at the same time? A hodgepodge mixed with a mirage, like leftover bits of all the previous Spideys rolled into one. Yeah, I think I’ll also be keeping my PS4 Classic Suit for a little while longer.
Ahh, the comparison pics do tell the story, wow! In BigBreda’s review he says the figure is 31cm/12.2in, so either the 3rd party companies are making the figures too short or Hot Toys is making them too tall 🤔. I may do what some of you guys are thinking and give ‘em the ol’ extension. With the...
Goood get for that price! These YouTube “Figure Bros” like to whine about the “B-B-Bargain Bin 😫” but I personally think that’s the best time to pick up a figure. Congrats.
Via Avengergram on Instagram:
I had a feeling this would be the end result (“He’s short”) but we have to give S-Hero the benefit of the doubt. There’s no real “standard height” for figures these days, look no further than your average HT Iron Mayne 😬.
…despite that, I’m paying off my invoice...
