Well, today was the dress rehearsal before Dragon*Con. A few things to take care of. First, I dropped the chest plate and broke off one of the spikes--easy fix though. I think it's funny that it's the same spike that broke off in the manga. Had to trim the back t get it on, need tighter...
That's the plan:exactly:
Thanks everyone for the warm replies. I wasn't sure what kind of response I'd get here. Looks like I'm pulling the manga fans out of the mix.:wave
Thanks all. Yes, this is a full 1:1 scale costume to be worn with all articulating (moving) armor. And yes, I had a thread here for the helmet and spiked collar, so it helped me get a scope and scale how I would make it.
Hey everyone. This has been along time project that I'm getting close to finishing, hopefully in time for Otikon 2011 or Dragon*Con if all else fails for the deadline. Hope you like it.
It's mostly sculpted out of clay with silicone molds, then cast out of fiberglass.

New update. Lights behind the eyes--blue and white LEDs. Looks like I'll need to back under the skull so light doesn't escape. I'll probably use black jersey material or black foam.
Here are some pics of the finished paint job and assembly with the base and clear acrylic rod. The pics have both flash and flash off--I couldn't decide which way was better. I also took a pic of the head rotated slightly for character. Next I'll be focusing on the glowing eyes.
It's been a while since my last update, but I started painting. This is just the first tarnish over a whitish/silver base. I'll be drybrushing the highlights back in soon after this dries a bit.
Latest update of all the main pieces of sk all put together.

I made a video of the next update to give a more proportional representation:

New update--I started on the spiked collar with the first casting of the head. I'm using foam for the collar (hell of alot qicker). Right now the collar is set to be able to adjust the size till I get final approval.
I finished skulpting the head and got approval for molding. I decided to do a case mold for better strength and longevity. I'll be pooring the silicone tomorrow, which I'll vacuume out the air bubbles first before pooring.
