How come this instead of a 1/6 Vader? Just curious as i'm tempted as well.

1/6 is small. Details look better in 1/4. Tough to get scaled down in 1/6 but HT has mastered it. 1/4 just looks great and has a huge shelf presence. Though I collect both scales.

I mostly collect 1/6 scale, but have a few select 1/4 scales of key characters, and this is the 1/4 scale Vader I've been waiting for. Knowing me I'll probably pick up the 1/6 scale RoTJ version too, and have one of them unmasked.

Well, if I get this I will not sell the IS Vader.

Thought about it and like some have said, its lasting power over plastic and fabric is what going to make it one of the greatest, regardless of whether not it has a full reveal.

That would be a big mistake imo. This looks cool but IS is on another level. I'd never sell mine. The materials used on that(heavy af), detail, amazing base and light up. I love that thing lol

I'm still going back and forth on this one. It looks great but I had the quarter scale Boba Fett and I really wasn't that crazy about posing it, I tend to like posing my smaller 1: 6 scale figs. I think I just prefer statues at this larger scale. But I'll probably jump on this and decide in hand. Helmet looks great. Base looks odd.

As close to perfection as this thing is, I still can't get myself to spend as much on an action figure, even a big one.

On the other hand, even if the new Rogue One Vader PF from Sideshow is not as good, such a price tag would bother me less. Go figure (pun intended)... Maybe it's a matter of "lasting power over plastic and fabric", or collectible statue Vs collectible toy, I don't know. I must admit the pleather jumpsuit frightens me.

That said, being able to have Vader in various iconic poses is tempting, too. I guess I'll decide when SSC gives us a price, an ETA and more details on the features of their PF.

Yeah, I know..

In my mind, I was originally going to to get this when it was the ROTS version. and never had plans on IS Vader, so you can understand my rationale. Lol.
Ended up getting the IS Vader anyway when everyone got there’s and all the praise was coming in.

Looks like I’ll have both now, but at first I was thinking it didn’t make sense to have 2 1/4 scale pieces of the same character, then thinking more about putting them together, one full reveal and the other not. Would be good.

Plus I wouldn’t spend that much money. Between the 2 of them it would be around the same as a Prime1 statue. [emoji51]

Just would suck if a ROTS full reveal came out. Then it’s 3
Of these beasts! Does that make any sense, idk ??! [emoji23]

Yeah that's one of the concerns I have. I was watching some reviews of the 1/4 Boba Fett and it seemed kinda awkward to work with and not nearly as much fun to pose.

And frankly it just wasn't all that interesting a figure to look at either. Supposedly the bigger size allows for a lot more detail, but it looked to me like the exact same detail but simply blown up to a larger scale. Which seemed to make it a lot less impressive somehow than the 1/6 version where all that detail is packed into a smaller form.

The fett 1/4 scale is much easier to pose once the fat suit is removed. I had that and the 1/6 scale and found the 1/4 scale to be more detailed and have better proportions and presence. Paint is also much better than on the sideshow PF.

The IS vader is a nice looking piece...but the face mask/helmet are way off and not very movie accurate..

This version has the most accurate looking mask/helmet of any 1/4,1/6 vader figure/statue thus far...

Hopefully nothing gets lost in translation when it goes into production.

IS is definitely not way off. Paint scheme a little but the sculpt is amazing. Not sure if you've actually seen that in person but of all the Vader stuff I've seen nothing comes close to it. Not sure where you're getting way off from really. Anyway there's another thread for that piece.

This does look good and there's still time for tweaking.

There's no beating 1/4 scale for presence and detail...for me it's a whole different ball game to 1/6...

I love my 1/6 collection and only have a few 1/4 scale pieces...but if i had to sell any of them...1/4 scale would be staying put:)

Yeah I’m with you. 100

I'm actually contemplating not getting the ESB 1/6 and getting this instead.

Decisions.

The two releases are so far apart. That ESB Vader is going to be awesome. Get both. ;)

I'm probably going for the sideshow exclusive and just use one of my Hasbro titanium helmets for the stand. Shame but I'll never use that head sculpt.

I've seen it on display and it's a fantastic looking piece...if i were into statues i'd pick one up...but for me the face mask/helmet looked off.

On this scale it should be close to perfect...which is what i see in this HT version..
