Bestas are recommended by many, but I'm pretty certain this won't fit in a detolf as it's too wide

I’ve also seen, in rare instances, where those detolf glass shelves break under the stress of heavier pieces. Frankly, I’d steer clear of it and go with something more substantial. I had a custom shelf made some years ago, and it was both expensive and a pain to get right. But I’ve also had good luck with searching through craigslist with a patient eye. My two nicest display cases came that way, and one of them was free (just had to rent to truck and transport it).

Just cancelled this. Lost $57 NRD. Not giving money grubbing SS any more of my money. (closing customs section).
You should have waited. If the statue happens to be delayed, you could've said you were cancelling due to the delay and gotten your NRD back.

Sideshow sent out an email to all affiliates regarding promoting selling and even talking about customs on their page. The sad part was they were given 72 hour period for affiliates to completely comply, which was absurd.

I believe the founders of Radd Titan had built up 7k worth of promotional advertising for Sideshow, yet Sideshow threatened to not give them this if promoting customs continued.

Radd Titan were applauded that they didn’t give in, but forfeiting their 7k in the process. In fact every group I was involved with got that email and it spread like wildflower. Mostly all groups went secret because of the threat.

I believe it’s a principal thing

Yup. Nailed it.

Yep. The principal to partake in something not strictly legal.

I get why people are disappointed. For years the practice may have been frowned upon, but by Sideshow not doing anything years ago, it allowed the custom community to flourish in many places and groups.

But at the end of the day, they've probably only made it a bit more difficult to acquire custom pieces. It's like torrent sites, they'll just do it on another online location.

I download all of my statues with a VPN now. :wink1:

What’s more interesting is I agree that there are some custom makers charging ridiculous prices for piece that a majority know shouldn’t be that price.

Edition sizes use to be small but now getting up into the 100’s

Sideshow obviously ignored for too long and even Radd Titan new they will eventually wake up. They just kinda went about it the wrong way.

The price they charge is more than justified. if say Rainman makes a Jack Burton, it’ll look like a miniaturized Jack Burton. Not what Sideshow just attempted for $250

Seeing how custom price sell so high, no wonder ss keeps raising their price

This whole thing wasn't aimed at customizers. Sideshow couldn't care less about some random person altering their stuff the way they see fit or making their own statue or figure for their own purposes. It's when they take that modification or entire statue/figure and make hundreds or thousands of copies to sell that they have an issue. Why would you want affiliates advertising these unlicensed items when you have fully licensed items available. They're a business first and foremost. Not your friend.

If they’re worried about licensed stuff not selling, they should make better stuff

I agree with both points and frankly wonder why doesn't Sideshow get feedback from the masses before churning out statues. The garbage Mystique they just launched will sit on their shelves for a while and may possibly kill off the next in the series of X-men statues. Sigh.

Or even different stuff. No need for multiple statues of the same characters when so many other characters haven't been touched by sideshow. Then on the off chance they release a new character, we've got to worry about how stupid the costume is going to look.
