Collectibles will probably go the way of the comics in the 90s. It will all come crashing down one day.

Where is Sideshow Alex who used to respond to fans here? What would he say about the mad price increases the last two years?

Oh, he's no where to be seen... Sideshow probably cut his job... Who needs customer service. :slap

Hot Toys has only had a few Diorama pieces but they were all much cheaper than this. The suit up Gantry was what, an extra $100-$150 on top of the regular Iron Man figure. The Dark Knight Armory was an extra $120-$150 on top of the Batman figure. The construction mark 3 was like $160. Geez I think the Batpod was about the same price as this and was significantly larger and more complex.

I will wait. Maybe Hot Toys will do one with Boushh Leia at some point.

Are the issues of price and quality also present in ss's releases for statues and the like? Or are these issues limited to their 1/6 products?

No they have had a steady decline in the quality of their premium format figures (statues) and significant increase in cost over the last few years. Sloppy paint, chipping paint, broken pieces, missing pieces etc. A premium format used to be anywhere between $300-$350. Now they are like $450 +. Also they are made very hollow now. Compare older pieces like Posion Ivy to Harley Quinn and you will feel the difference in weight. Ivy is solid, Harley is hollow.

It was a day one preorder for me when first announced.
Seeing the price, I will look for a Hasbro one, or just use my Diamond Select bank as a background piece.

I know the price isn't by any means great but I was more so disappointed on the base being tiny and that for $250 they couldn't figure out how to use magnets to have this float without a wonky rod from the back end.

Wow, I got the Mos Eisley Cantina Nook with free shipping from SS for $150. This price is ridiculous. Although I sold my Han in Carbonite and hope to one day get a better version, I won't be biting on this at this price. Easy pass.

If this had included an Ugnaught i would have probably bought it. I have the original and will just stick with that. It would have been nice to display it with the bounty hunters but the base is silly in that regard.

Price aside, the base is a real head scratcher. Sideshow put a lot of thought and engineering into getting to "float" securely but overlooked how in that horizontal position it is an accessory to Stormtroopers and Bounty hunters. The integrated base leaves no good display options for setting this scene, so what's the point of positioning that way?

Alex is a she and she still works for Sideshow.

Yep, that's what struck me as the oddest. If you're going to include the floor as part of the diorama piece then at least leave room for figures to fit on it. And a big, bright metal rod as a holder? :slap

I'd guess it's because then the base would look to large if you pose it standing up. Of course then you could have Boba standing next to it aswell. The base looks good standing up I think.

A larger base to accomodate at least two or three figures could have played a big part in cashing on this piece. As it is released, it's basically an accessory priced at a full figure pricepoint. With a larger base, it could have been considered a small diorama with bonus Han Carbonite block thus giving less space to retail questionning.

Totally agree. It doesn't make sense.
