AWESOME!! I missed out on that cover but can't seem to find it for a decent price. They just cost too much now lol

Right? I am amazed at the prices for the early IDW TMNT issues especially all of the #1's

I have to say I love to read comic books and could never keep up with many series because I got tired of them. But the IDW TMNT series is the only one that I own all 60 issues of. The stories are new and fresh but not so different as to alienate the fan base. And I loved Dan Duncan's art on the first 12 issues. I loved it so much that 5 years ago when the series was brand new I acquired one of the original pen and ink pages Dan Duncan did for the book! I have to frame that next and put it next to the TMNT #1

Its from TMNT#8 Page 14

Dude, that is amazing. I've got to get some original art pieces. I saw on eBay that the Hero initiative is selling variant TMNT #50 covers for $800+! Each cover is original and created by a different artist. Dan Duncan's variant went for over $1000!

Hope we get Duncan inspired figures someday.

Amen to that! That would be amazing I love his renditions of the Turtles (most notably leaving the whites of their eyes all the time)

And wow! I had no idea his stuff was going for that much now. I mean this is the actual master page from the comic and I paid 200 bucks for it at Cadence Comic Art. There are still a lot of pages of Dan Duncans art on there if your interested! They had some of the original cover art he did as well but those were too much for me to purchase at the time (around 400 bucks) although now looking back on it I wish I did lol. Here is the link to Dans art:

That's some awesome artwork!
I met Kevin a few years ago at a comic con, there was a big stack of black & white prints of that comic cover, he didn't know why there on the table or what to do with them so he was asking everyone in line if they wanted one signed, sure why not. (sorry, a little blurry)

Also during the IDW annual sale a couple years back, they were selling Duncan art, you'd get a random turtle (was kind of hoping for Mikey, but still pretty cool)

And because its Turtles related, Rob Guillory was selling his daily warm-up sketches and was doing one of each turtle, so I had to be on the ball to get Mikey

Steve Lavigne is coming to Tulsa Comic Con this October and I'm praying he has some original artwork I can buy. I definitely missed out on IDW's sale. I need to get with the program on those.

Those are some sweet originals crazygmpoker! And yeah I thought Kevin was a really nice guy when I met him! He seemed to enjoy that I brought him the RI Variant #1 and I asked him if Dan was going to be doing anymore arcs on the current comic and he said he would certainly like to try and get him back because he loves his artwork too.

And I had no idea IDW does an annual sale! Do you happen to know when it normally falls? I google searched it and found an article from 2014 saying it happened sometime in September of that year. Is it safe to bet that it would happen again in September this year?

I think it was either end of Sept or beginning of October, looking at when I took the pics, it was late October so I think it took a couple weeks to ship. I just googled it and a lot of posts from around October 8th mention it. So definitely Fall

Usually they pop up from China or Hong Kong

Yup, also "missing" box.

Do you refer to this auction? Would be allowed to post some reference links?

Seriously I would think these are the real deal. How can you be sure? Its a mess. I am still planning on obtaining both sets, but I really dont want to go through all this bootleg desaster again. TMNTClassics was already a hughe mess. It was a pain to get an original set.:slap

I would assume these are bootlegs. Or just smuggled out of the factory. Who knows how many avenues there are for things like this. The amusing part is that although everyone assumes bootlegs are of an inferior quality, NECA's quality isn't great on their own, so I've always wondered if there really is much difference. In the end, I figure they're both made with toxic materials. Hence the smell. (And the 18 and over warning label on NECA products. They don't have to conform to the stricter standards of childrens' toys. Which is actually a shame, but you know. Market price.) :rolleyes2

My gut says bootlegs. They could have had these being made as soon as they got NECA's supply. They only needed one to start producing.

The only way to be certain they are boots is probably that the front shell will be hard on bootlegs. The real ones are a soft plastic rubber poly. I'm sure there will be blogs and videos comparing them in a few months.
