Saludo from Madrid!

Wow, just checked out BBTS. **** that price! :lol

She's a nice piece but not 500 nice imo. Obviously it is subjective.

Definitely worth $500 (relative to Sideshow PF prices or XMs absurd pricing) but I can understand why people would be turned off by BBTS just upping the price like that.

Mine arrived about a week ago, a refugee from BBTSs' delayed first batch... Aside from a slight lean which was correctable, she is brilliant. I'm very happy to have stuck out the wait... Here she is with a classic red background - enjoy!

How did you correct it? I found the only way to correct it was to not put the peg in all the way.

Thank you cmiller99 and Figurefreaks! And I totally agree - she's an amazing statue... The face sculpt is just astonishing!

It's good but I would not call it astonishing, nevertheless, it still looks like Marylin, but the proto was dead on, this isn't. The sculpt is not long and skinny like some pics suggest it is but it is longer than the proto, yet it is still roughly the same shape.

$500 + $119 Shipping from BBTs = over 619 USD, which converted to AUD was about $858 (thanks pay pal). This would be the most I was ever going to pay for this and I was waxing and waning over whether to buy this or not for a few days to. However, seeing the prices of this on ebay made me pull the trigger because I did not want to spend anymore than $500 USD for this. I am just kicking myself I didn't buy this when it first came out, didn't release this would go up in value so quickly!

Congrats on the purpose ...as I said, definitely worth $500 ...just a sting because Blitzway have it at a lower RRP!
Not a Monroe fan personally so don't need on the shelf but I think she is probably the best quality 1/4 scale statue ever made. I'm sure you won't regret it!

Thanks SAB and yes the fact that the price went up is the only reason why I was finding it hard to make a decision whether to buy it or not. I hated the fact that I had to spend nearly 1k (AUD) on this but I was worried I would regret not buying it later because there was no way I pay more than that for this statue, despite how good it is.

At least the best real life actor one, but yeah you might be right can't think of any off the top of my head that are better than this. Rocky will probably be better though.

I don't regret it, it's my favorite statue. :D

Didn't know you ordered this Steve (or that you were a Monroe fan). Congrats! What are your thoughts on it? I have no interest in this statue as I'm not a Marilyn Monroe fan, but curious to hear your thoughts on the quality of this piece. My next piece will be Rocky which I'm really excited for.

Thanks Nuri, just got this at the end of last week so it's not like I have had it for a while. Anyway as far being a Monroe fan, well, let's just say I am more or less a fan of all the classic beautiful women of what is considered the golden age of Hollywood. :wink1:

Well apart from the peg issue, IMO the quality is quite good. I could be wrong but the whole PVC area looks like it has been painted with a base coat like the polystone parts of the body, because the color of the skin tone looks exactly the same on both mediums. Although the paint job is good I would not call it realistic, the shading is subtle and I think it is mainly the painted freckles that accounts for these different tones. That being said, it is still a nice smooth paint job and not sloppy like a lot of the ones on Sideshow pieces and thus, is painted beautifully.

Therefore, overall I would say it is a high quality statue but IMO not really worth anymore than the RRP, let alone the crazy BIN prices on ebay! :horror

My next piece will be Rocky which I'm really excited for.

Yeah that looks brilliant, just hope they fix that peg issue that causes these pieces to slant. The only one that never had this problem was the Bruce Lee GOD.

I posted this on the 1/6 Tyler Durden page too, but apparently Timewalker Toys has Marilyn in-stock for its original retail price. I'd jump on this if you're on the fence, especially given BBTS's price gouging.

Marilyn Monroe - Gentlemen Prefer Blondes - Blitzway 1/4 Scale Statue

If you look carefully on the website you will see it is not in stock but expected to arrive on April 14th. If you hit add to cart you get the following message.

"Sorry, the following item is currently out of stock: Marilyn Monroe - Gentlemen Prefer Blondes - Blitzway 1/4 Scale Statue"

Personally I doubt they will receive it but I think anyone that wants this piece should get it for the cheapest price they can get it for.

I think blitzway could corner the market with the 40's 50's 60's female icons.and although it's something I wouldn't collect,i'm sure there's many out there that would.
regarding ebay prices,i'm after a GOD 1/6 suit, but not at $60.so it doesn't surprise me with the really high price on this statue(and others)

And I would be one of them Chris. :wink1:

Yeah but it is not just ebay I have looked on so many online stores and BBTS was cheapest but even their price is too high. The mark up is because the statue is sold out, I am just surprized it sold out so quickly.

I don't need the golden age female icons but I'd definitely Instant buy a Bogart in trenchcoat!

Regarding the peg issue, I don't think it'll be a problem with Rocky. It has the feet split wide apart and flat on the ground.
(So did GOD Bruce)
Marilyn has her feet quite close together and in heels so there is less surface connection as well as balance .....EtD Bruce has both feet raised at different angles and the statue off balance, causing many of us right from the start to wonder if they could actually pull that off (the final answer being ....sort of with a lot of QC issues!)

Congrats on Monroe again!

that's a thought SAB,a run of iconic 40's-60's male icons.i think those would sell well depending if their iconic roles/image was done.strange how blitzway started the statue range with an almost perfect bruce, then went a bit downhill.even though i'm not getting rocky lets hope they get back on track.
oh and steve lets hope that future releases will add to your Monroe statue, congrats again.

You make some interesting points SAB and this might very well be the reason why these latest Blitzway statues lean. However, leaning issues are a common problem with Sideshow pieces, even when both feet are wide apart and flat on the ground like Scar Jo BW PF, both normal and demon FVJ Freddy PFs and some Jason Part 3 PFs. And the reason for this is usually because either the leg or the peg is crooked, and thus, the whole piece leans in a certain direction. BTW I am not saying the Rocky piece has a high chance of leaning, but what I am saying is just because the feet are flat and further apart from each other doesn't mean it is resistant to leaning.

Congrats on Monroe again!

Thanks again mate! :hi5:

Well TBF the paint job on the GOD statue is very plane and lacks the flesh tones that the ETD statue has, thus the ETD statue has better paint job in that regard. However, what they failed on was QC (leaning, among other things) and taking short cuts by using the simplest looking decals, and the worse part of all was not putting any effort into painting the sweat.

IMO if they didn't take short cuts and put more effort into the piece, it would have looked like a high quality statue.

even though i'm not getting rocky lets hope they get back on track.

Leaning issues aside, the Marylin Monroe statue looks like is a high quality piece, so as far as quality goes I think they have pretty much gotten back on track. Nevertheless, as much as I like Monroe, I get disappointed when I compare the product sculpt to the proto sculpt. The difference is not huge but it is noticeable, I don't think anyone noticed the difference between the GOD proto sculpt and final product sculpt and that is because it was the exact same sculpt, the sculpt did not get warped during production and they need to be able to duplicate this process again. If they are able to do this with Rocky then they will be totally back on track and then some. :yess:

Thanks Chris, but wanting and actually buying them are two different things, I think if Monroe had no risen in price so quickly I probably wouldn't have bought it already.
