Re: 3A TRANSFORMERS - DOTM Optimus Prime Premium Scale Figure - Announcement

The shop that I pre-ordered said it will release in May. Let's hope he is right!

I expect it to be released in July for my birthday.
It seems these things take slightly over a year to manufacture.

Yeah... I mean the actual product...
Not sure what you're asking for. Photos of the figure on the first page. Figure hasn't released yet so there isn't any final production photos of the figure.

Bumblebee and Megatron looked exactly the same as their prototype so I wouldn't expect otherwise from Optimus. The figure in the announcement photos is probably what we're going to get.

Oh. There hasn't been any. For some reason it seems like Prime is being held clise to the chest.
There was a change in Megatron's eyes since seeing the prototype. So, maybe 3A is retooling Prime as well.
Hopefully some will start popping up next month.

Base on the promo pictures, which Prime do you think more movie-accurate? 3A or Prime 1 Studio DOTM? Besides the weapons, of course.

Prime 1 is more accurate. They take the 3D models of the characters and then produce them out in one museum standing pose. They're very accurate to the source material from the movies because of that.

They don't have to deal with engineering and manufacturing the product for articulation like 3A does. There's no way the figure could move the way it currently does if all they did was print out the 3D models of the character. Not much to compare though. They both fall into two separate categories.

Prime 1's Optimus is stuck in one static pose and cost $2300. It is more accurate overall but again it's a $2300 statue.

3A's Optimus is fully articulated and is $430. Not as accurate overall but you get one that's pretty darn close & articulated for a fraction of the cost of Prime 1's.

They both look great. It just boils down to what you prefer to have in your collection.

I'm a completist, so I'll stick to 3A and avoid having to go all Breaking Bad to fund the addiction.
