I was kinda hoping maybe he'd got burned just a little by Fet's light so they'd have an excuse to make him look creepier or something. His minions are creepier than he is.

yea, I was hoping for something along those lines too. I'm fine with the hands. His whole face needs reworking though, it's just not creepy. Has to be one of Guillermos worst creatures he's ever put on film or maybe my standards are too high from what he has done in the past.

Agree 100% The Master's minions look scarier than he does. Even when he was whispering all those threats to Eph about taking everything away from him, I was trying not to laugh ala Beavis and Butthead.

Anyone else hoping that Nora's mom was dead when Zach got back? I was hoping she would fall over dead when Zach reached out to touch her and reveal that standing behind her was strigoi Kelly.

I had a completely different thought, that she would try to do something with Setrakian's wife's heart and get infected. :p

I didn't understand what happened to Setrakian when the the Master says Professore? Also, no news of Bolivar, would like to see what going on with him, but I guess it won't be in this season.

Saw the latest episode last night and it had it moments but Nora's mom needs to go. really hoping the last 2 episodes deliver in a big way.

Oh and the master's face looks like something off Dark Crystal - only not as good - lol.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but I'm digging the fact that the Master isn't your stereotypical-looking vampire. There's a creepiness to how odd he looks, but it's a refreshing contrast to the cliche Vlads, Batmen and Nosferatu most other stories use.

And I suspect we'll get an update to his look eventually.

I've pretty much had it with Nora and Eph. Nora's too weak, and Eph is an idiot. It was bad enough that he drives away one of the survivors last week (the blonde chick...Dutch?), but then doesn't even to have the sense to realize his own stupidity when he has to leave his son alone this week because there aren't enough of them to have one stay with him. And then he goes on to berate Fet, continuing his stupidity. And Setrakian doesn't slap him back to reality...gah.

This is a show I'm enjoying because of the story, not the characters. I'm just hoping we get to a point where I don't groan whenever Nora or Eph open their mouths.

Bolivar will definitely be seen again. I thought it was going to be this season, but with only two episodes left you may be right and the writers save him for next year.

Eph is the only one I really hope bites it! I can't stand his character... what an arse!

I am all for originality. It's just that The Master's appearance alone should induce fear. Unfortunately, all it does is make him look sad and pathetic to me. The big hands are comical, but I could look past them if his face was fearsome, but it just isn't for me. Heck, all the other strigoi (Eichorst, Bolivar, etc) look more fearsome than he does.

Nora too! :monkey4

Seconded! :lecture

As has been said though, it's consistent with...

don't care for Eph either. I liked him at first, but now he just comes off as a complete ******. I don't get why they started telling the story of the blonde, then all of a sudden, she leaves the group so suddenly.

Eichorst looked creepy to me when I first saw him. I believe the master just has regular looking eyes too? They should give him some contacts or make his eyes black or something.

All the strigoi are supposed to have red glowing eyes like the master but clearly it's just him. I can't remember if Eichorst wore contacts or not. I love the eyes of the master, they glow but it's not like over the top like in some films. It's on the fainter side of glowing. The palms and size don't bother me as again, its on par with someone who suffers from gigantism which is why the master chose Sardu as the host, because of the powerful body he possessed. I hate the ears and lips however. If they had pulled back the ears instead of sticking them out, I could live with that although I'd prefer no ears. Noses are made out of cartiledge and flesh, same goes for ears. It makes sense that if you lose one you'd lose the other. Somehow strigoi can smell without noses. Why can't they hear without ears like originally described. I think the biggest issue though is they designed the master to look almost like a skull. No nose, sunken eyes, bright white complextion on his head but then he's got these gigantic lips. He'll, even the bottom half (not including the next goider thing.they need pull back and thin his lips. I mean everything else looks old and skunken, why not his mouth. Have the lips pulling back exposing his teeth.

Also the most annoying is setrakians cane. It belonged to sardu as his walking Stick but it's tiny and would be useless to him. Why couldn't they give setrakian an actually walking staff instead. Makes more sense.

Also noras mom needs to die. I know I'm supposed to feel sorry for her and I would never wish her condition on even my most hated enemies parents but all she is is a pain in the ass. Just let her choke on a sandwich and no one notices for a few days. Priblem solved.

As azurepred said, if the eyes were all black, he would look more terrifying. Right now he looks like he is, I don't know, surprised? :D

As it's been said earlier, the rest of the Strigois look more terrifying. The best scene imo was when he kills that guy at the Airport and smashes his head!

Is the master supposed to look more terrifying? Or terrifying at all? I haven't read the books, so I can only imagine the creators were tuned-in enough to the whole process that this character turned out at least very close to what they intended.

Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan co-wrote the books and both are heavily involved in the tv series as exec producers. I suppose The Master must satisfy their interpretation of him from the books, but that is not what I imagined him looking like as I read the books.

Probably because no one these days uses walking staffs and it would draw a lot of attention.

not true, just saw a man walking with a staff earlier today. might not be head high but shoulder high and wood with rubber tip/top. coincidence? hmmm, inquiring mind wants to know.

I dunno. A man walking around in one of the most liberal states in our union with a perceived weapon... I see him getting proned out for carrying it. :lol
