Hi, I'm looking to get a ANH Han solo 1/6 figure. At the moment which one is the better quality out of the Sideshow and Medicom? I'm not too concerned about the heads on these as they will be replaced, more so the quality of the clothing and accessories. Does anybody know if there is a new figure in the works? If so I might hold out for that, though my ebay finger is itchin' :D

I'd say the SSC one; under their pretty bad paint job is a fantastic Harrison Ford likeness. Rumor is that Hot toys may have one in the works. But that rumor is 2 years old

Han is supposed to be the 3rd Hot Toys Star Wars figure. But considering it took 2 years for Luke and we've seen neither hide nor hair of Anakin - I wouldn't hold your breath.

That said - My Han is an amalgam - it's the outfit from SSC Han with the head of the Stormtrooper Han. I expect the upcoming Hoth Han non-hatted head will be even better.

here`s my ANH HAN WITH HIS CO-PILOT CHEWIE

I don't have either the sideshow or medicom version but I suspect the clothing of the medicom version would better fit on modern Hot Toys bodies. I suspect the Sideshow clothing would be too loose.

I do have the Medicom Han and unless it's the new Amazing Spider-man body those clothes ain't going on an HT body.

Does anyone have both figures? Putting the head aside which one has the better quality clothing? Also would the Sideshow outfit fit on a HT body?

I think it's too early to look for a good Han. At least until the Hoth version comes out. Come on HT!

There was talk of Iminime doing ANH Solo, there was even an interest thread. It didn't seem to amount to much though.

The speculation is that HT is dragging their heels trying to buy time while they try and negotiate a deal with Hasbro to create and distribute the SW 12" figures on their own and not in partnership with Sideshow. I spoke to a Tamashii rep at this past year's NY Comic Con and he told me that's why they are holding off on R2, so they don't have to release it in partnership with Sideshow. HT is most likely doing the same thing.

whoa, ok highly interesting. Once that happens: $400 vader here we come!!! Thanks Mad Old Lu for the information!

I can see this from Tamashii, but not from Hot Toys. Their relationship with Sideshow is very symbiotic that I don't think they'd be trying to go around them for licensing SW. Not that they'd have a hope anyway.

The dragging feet rumor is due to the fact that Hot toys has been producing Star Wars toys for years, so they already have a good working relationship with the companies they need to be in with and the fact that Howard has stated in multiple interviews that he plans to have the 1/6 license for Star Wars figures that Takara currently subleases to Medicom.

Which Star Wars toys are these?

This I've never heard before. Any references for it? It doesn't make any sense however, seeing as being third man down on a sub-license is still third man down regardless of who has the original sub-license. I just don't think they'd try to hitch their wagon to anyone else besides Sideshow, who are the biggest player in this hobby worldwide.

At the end of the day however, it's only facts that are important. And those are that Hasbro has exclusive worldwide rights to the franchise and Hot Toys hasn't shown or done anything to demonstrate they are actively working on anything SW related.

While I love Hot Toys, I think the whole conversation is going to change dramatically by the end of the year after Sideshow releases their Hoth figures.
