I have four movie posters in my TV room. Only one is an authentic double sided poster. The others are reprints. None of the reprints are anywhere near the quality of the original. However, it's not so noticeable to me unless you stand right up on them. The three reprints are in those "cheap" Michael's frames. The original I had professionally framed last summer to keep it from wrinkling.

I'd like more wall art and decorations for my TV room. I don't mind the reprints and since it's much more cost effective, I agree it makes sense for me to get them. But already owning both originals and reprints, I completely understand people's desire for getting the originals.

Where do you guys store these things though? Do you just have them rolled up put away in a closet? Or do you have them plastered all over your houses? It cost a small fortune for me to frame my original poster, and it was at Michael's with a 70% off framing sale! I couldn't imagine taking that plunge ever again.
 
For most, I use something similar to a drafting file cabinet, only a lot cheaper. It's used normally for that same purpose, storing very large blueprints. It's a heavy duty box and inside you slip big file folders - yep, it's more or less a big carboard file box. They aren't super cheap, but I have about 800 posters in one, all flat and neat. It's much easier to take them out than tubes, and less likely to damage. On top of that I have those 800 in a space about 4 feet wide and only 2 feet deep.

I also have 16 frames running through the basement of the house, with some of my favorites inside, as well as the two lighted poster boxes that rotate with something being released that month. Over in the HT thread I showed my bar and HT, but there's only the two light boxes in those photos.

I had an original Spider-man 3 DS poster (back when I thought the movie was going to be good) and the reprint I own looks just as good if not better. The details on the reprint are far more clear.

I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 posters, which I keep in heavy stock tubes. I have been collecting for about 30 years.

I dont keep track of my collection as dilligently as I used to, just not as much time on my hands now.
 
Have the special edition Star Wars posters--double sided and The Grinch still in tubes.

Maybe you mixed them up? :dunno:lol

But you could be right. My ESB poster looks amazing. My one gripe is that it's not the right dimensions. I had to use electrical tape on the frame to hide the wood behind the poster. My other reprints aren't nearly as nice looking. Lion King is pretty fuzzy from a foot away and Moulin Rouge looks wrong in certain lighting the way a sharpie marker looks purple in certain lighting. It too is the wrong size and I had to use the electrical tape. But it gets the job done for me and I'd do it all over again rather than paying for the original prices.

My Batman Begins poster is an original, it has ten autographs on it, and with its professionally made frame it is one of my most prized possessions I own. I could never just keep it in a tube. I wanna see it and show it off!

I think my most prized posters in my collection would be either Blade Runner or A Clockwork Orange, both of which are rolled, which was very rare back then.

I store my linen backed posters in a seperate room , they look like poster skyscrapers , at least the 2 & 4shs lol.......
 
Can you guys suggest me a good website for buying movie posters? I'm actually having a hard time finding posters for my favorite movies and when I do find it, they come with crazy price tags.

It's no more absurd than $250 for a toy.

Original Movie Posters are very limited in number, and the price reflects what others are willing to pay. Just like, say, a Iron Man Hot Toys figure. Before the Iron Man MK 1 V 2 came out, people were asking upwards of $700 for that figure. Some might say, "well, it's just a piece of paper", which is true, but the HT and SS figures are just pieces of plastic.

If your not a collector, then just buy the reprint, you'll save a ton of money, and still have the poster you want, only slightly smaller. .25 of a inch smaller to be exact.

I have collected for 30 years and have many posters that would fetch thousands of dollars each, becase of age, popularity and rarity. And Iron Man was very popular and is somewhat rare in comparison to the demand.

I really wish I could get my hands on the lenticular posters that they had for The Hobbit. So far I haven't seen them. There's one group shot that is from the UK, but not the ones of the individual characters like they had a SDCC.
