Anyone else watched this? Thought it was a decently fun watch for an otherwise boring evening.

Great cast, some funny and weird WTF moments.

I'm always up for a Ralph Fiennes movie. I liked it. Nothing groundbreaking, but comfy. I watched "The Forgiven" with him a while back too. Another solid flick. I'm praying that they get him as Xavier and Jason Isaacs as Magneto in the MCU.

Yeah he's a pretty good actor, can tell through his performance that he has fun with his roles. I really liked him in The Kings Man. Sometimes I just need a decent movie to kick back and relax with and this scratched that itch pretty nicely.

From dramas to comedies, I always know that I'm in for a solid movie if he's in it. And yeah, sometimes you just want something to watch and relax. Nothing to "absorb" or "get in the mood", but not something braindead either. A perfectly fine middle of the road movie that is engaging and helps you pass ~2 hours when you're too tired for anything else.

I did not enjoy it as much as you fine people, for me it was all style and little to no logic (like a Rian Johnson movie).

I enjoyed Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor Joy in it. It had some good moments, just overall left me like "meh".

Better than half the movies I watched the past year though, I will give it that. I am still waiting for another movie that truly makes me go "wow" after watching. Haven't had one of them in a while

It is another meta take on the illusory nature of current art (but here it's food), the upper class and all the usual stuff. Nothing really extraordinary, but I found it to be a comfy watch in the sense that that the performances and atmosphere were solid, so you went along for the ride and didn't tire. Something like "The Square" did the core subject matter better, that's for sure. And we got "The Triangle Of Sadness" a bit earlier too, which also had similar themes. It's the current "theme" I suppose.

Yeah, so far that and "Weird, the Al Yancovic Story" are perhaps by favourite 2022 movies, but I didn't feel they quite got into my top movies of the past decade list. Still hoping for something super awesome to come along

I actually like such themes (hence why I was excited ti watch the menu) but the execution leaves some to be desired. I still have yet to watch triangle of sadness (haven't seen the square either come to think of it) will give it a go and see how it fares

I found The Square to be far better than The Triangle. I've rewatched the former multiple times, whereas I've seen ToS only once and I don't think I'll return to it. It's still worth seeing, in any case.

I will definitely give both a watch (ToS was already in my watch queue, and have since added the Square)

The movie had me craving for cheeseburger that I had to make some for myself. Yes, with American cheese, the only cheese acceptable.

Didn't know what to make of it at first, then it got it's teeth into me, but the end didn't deliver. I love movies with "unhappy" endings and the "bad guy" winning - but for some reason this didn't feel satisfying when it all went down.

This was pretty silly. Ray was good though. He's so creepy. And actually, I really love Anya since Gambit and this was the first thing I've seen her in since where she actually acted well (she was pretty bad in Peaky Blinders and Amsterdam and I was beginning to lose my lust).

I couldn't make it past 10 minutes of that awfulness. What is it with Bale and awful flicks lately? Amsterdam, Love & Thunder, that bottom tier detective schlock that released two days ago. Why?

This was pretty silly. Ray was good though. He's so creepy. And actually, I really love Anya since Gambit and this was the first thing I've seen her in since where she actually acted well (she was pretty bad in Peaky Blinders and Amsterdam and I was beginning to lose my lust).

She was too American in Peaky Blinders.

Watched it yesterday and enjoyed it, Ralph stole every scene and Anya was also surprisingly good, Colin Stetson' soundtrack is always a treat to listen to as well, I never thought a cheeseburger scene would resonate so deeply with me! That said I definitely would've tried and fought harder to escape the situation I think Ralph commenting on the characters barely trying to escape or fight back feels like the director is aknowledging what a portion of us was thinking.
