It's probably the best TOTS Myers out of the bunch so far. The headsculpt looks "okay" compared to the 78, H4 & H5. But Dean really has a great lighting in his videos, so I'm not entirely sure. The 78 HS looks way better in Dean's videos than in person. There's also a Madbug V1 recast that Dean owns, I remember being shocked when he made a true light video, it looked really bad compared to when he shot it in his home with the lighting.

As for the rest, there's an improvement with the hands. The coveralls look a bit better than the 78 but compared to some customs I've seen, it's still not satisfying. There's the same problem with the "T-Shirt". The boots look alright.
The main problem is the height, it's too short.
The box looks great. They really make great boxes.

It will be a pass for me, I've passed on every TOTS figure since the 78 one, those figures are too cheap looking. There are signs of improvement with this new release though, and the upcoming accessory pack looks incredible, so who knows, they may release much better Halloween figures in the future.
I think what they need the most is a better sculptor, and a talented painter who could supervise the paint app. And they should go for rooted hair, it just doesn't work with sculpted hair on those masks.
Ryan Harper does a great job from what I've seen in Dean's videos, and there's also an artist here who made a great 2018 HS (I think it's Chino?).

From initially wanting the 2018 I'd decided I'd stick with the '78 as it's the iconic look.

However, Dean's video convinced me to go for him again!

The '78 and 2018 are at least like bookends: the first, fresh mask, and the older, damaged same mask years later. I don't care for the other designs as they look pretty strange in a bad way.

Best UK price for this has always been CDUK - about 30GBP cheaper than MadAboutHorror. 35GBP cheaper if you pay up front. After reward points I got him down to 140GBP, which feels a lot more reasonable.

Only thing is he's been listed as 'No stock, on request' for months. So I'm not sure on the delivery timescale.


As to being too short, I'm sure those overalls could stand to take some longer ankle pegs to alleviate some of the issue.

Deans always manages to make these look great. I was pretty set on passing but now I’m back on the fence.

While Dean purposely uses cinematic lighting which is different from most home shelf displays, it shows off the quality by showing the product under film conditions so you know they did a good job and he shows there's much more texture than the early photos have indicated.

I love my '78 on the shelf and can't wait for BBTS to get the 2018 in.

To be fair, most figures he shows look good under his lighting conditions, but a lot of them don't look as nice when he makes those "true light" videos.
To me a good figure looks great whatever the light.

But TOTS is definitely a good company as they're listening to criticisms. Their upcoming accessory pack is proof of that, it's amazing, and I hope they follow this path with their future Halloween figures.
I'd be very interested in a Halloween 2 Warlock figure.

I would agree that a good figure will look that way under most conditions and I think my '78 looks good all the time, but not great unless under moody lighting, but part of that is because that's the only way we have ever really seen the '78 Myers. There aren't photos of Castle standing around in bright light like you might have in a home.

There are certain figures in my collection that always lack some shelf presence because my home doesn't replicate the light I'm used to seeing the character under.

The only time the ToTS Myers has looked bad to me is when it's heavily lit with minimal shadows.

I found it was just the eyes that were often killing the '78 ToTS, and making him appear goofy. As soon as I extracted that nub of a head from inside the mask he's much less dependent upon lighting. With dark empty sockets he really does have the blackest eyes, the devil's eyes.

We do see Myers in natural light now & then in Halloween (1978), but never in close-up and with light on his face. And the shape of the mask is never exactly the same from scene to scene.

But the TOTS one just doesn't match what I see on screen imo, except under very particular lighting conditions that Dean manages to achieve.

I have to disagree here. I like Deans videos because it really gives you an accurate perspective on the sculpt. Michael Myers, as a cinematic character, gets all of his "presence" based on how he's lit. Even in the daylight scenes you only get a glimpse, and allot of that plays to how the shot is set up (far away or quick profile). Plus it doesn't take allot of behind-the-scenes pics that do exist to see that even the original mask is fairly unimpressive in regular lighting. So it doesn't make allot of sense to assume a 1/6th scale version should be able to do something better in normal light if the original was no better under equal scrutiny.

Lets also not forget the original is a dime store William Shatner mask with white shoe polish and enlarged eye holes. Not exactly a Michelangelo sculpt in play here. And yes, if I'm going to display them in a case, I want at least some overhead lighting to give that sculpt the mood you would want for the subject matter. Allot of what people think they see as detail on the mask is actually just lighting. Even the latest sculptor to the H40 mask speaks to that. Not everything is as it seems. So when Dean lights these figures and cinematic Michael suddenly comes to life, you understand the sculptor did a good job.

For me, that's the test of accuracy, when you can put it under the same lighting conditions and have it look right out of the movie, then it's a job well done. The H40 looks amazing in Dean's video, I can't wait.

Color me very very impressed for 100 bucks. Personally I love it. It?s going to be modded of course, but straight out of the box it?s an amazing achievement for TOT at this price point. Very happy to have Myers on my shelf finally.

These are hour 1 pictures with slight filters. But the initial shock at the goofy eyes went away under regular lighting conditions.

I don't care if they're not for everyone, the ToTS figures are perfect for what I'm after, love my '78, can't see me feeling any less about the 2018, especially after Dean's clear, crips view of it. I am so grateful for this line.

The 2018 came out very nice. I told myself I'm not going to get it, but what I've seen made me contemplate the purchase. I'm going to stay vigilant but if a deal presents itself I may buckle.

Lets be real here. There's a reason they shot the mask like they did in the movie as these behind the scenes pictures show.
