Excellent, looking forward to news about this line!
I think the problem is that Star Trek is at its best as a TV show and not a movie. The movies with the original actors worked best because they had built in history and chemistry behind them from the TV show. The weight of things like, the return of Khan, Spock's death in STII, or even stealing of the Enterprise and it's destruction in STIII all made a greater emotional impact because of the history built up in the show. The movies were an "event" with magnitude yes, but the they didn't have to stand on their own as much as the reboot films do. The impact of things like seeing Kahn, "Kirk's Spock like death", the Enterprises near destruction in Into Darkness for example just doesn't have same history in of itself to have the same impact so they just try to go "bigger" visually and create more spectacle. The movie's are an "Event" for sure, but without character development that can come from telling all sorts of different kind of stories like you can in a TV series format there will always be limitations in the new films despite how "big" they go.
I wouldn't say it was the best, but I would say second best over Into Darkness. There was more character development and the relationships felt more "Star Trek" in the way the characters got grouped together and had a chance to interact. I like it they were finally on the 5 year mission and away from earth (so earth isn't what's at stake). It wasn't perfect, but it might be close to what we can get in a franchise that can only give us a window into the characters once every few years while also telling some sort of major high stakes "event" blockbuster action movie. In this form it is what it is, and I went to Beyond understanding the limitations and enjoyed it. Not that they couldn't make improvements, there were some plot holes, and I am tired of this happening...
Spoiler:How many times do we need to see the Enterprise be destroyed in a Star Trek movie? It has no real emotional impact anymore as we know they will get a new ship with a letter added on in the end. Makes me feel like StarFleet builds these ships to be disposable making sure they always have the next Enterprise in the pipeline for when (not if) it gets destroyed. The original series Enterprise lasted 20 years before getting destroyed, it's destruction had real emotional impact told in a story where you felt it was a real sacrifice. Even the Enterprise D had some emotional impact as it lasted 7 seasons on TV before being destroyed in a movie. But each time they do this it looses its impact because we have seen it before and there is less time and emotional investment in the ship itself. I wish they would stop doing this, and the Enterprise's destruction was the most "Meh" aspect of ST Beyond only serving the purpose of getting the crew stuck on the ground; which could have been accomplished another way.
Somewhere in my schedule.

Do you have inside connections? When will there be news?
They wanted the original film to be like "2000 a Space Odyssey" that's why it has those slow moments. I like all the original cast films. The reboots are bad. I like Chris Pine but he is a horrible Kirk.
Interestingly, I found the original release of STTMP just about unwatchable after recovering from the excitement of seeing the original cast back together. Then, years later, when the "Special Edition" with 25 minutes of additional footage included, it became one of, if not my favorite entries of the movie series. What they had sacrificed and cut, in order to achieve the epic 2001 feel was just about all of the character dialogue that made us love TOS. Restored, it quite simply took the movie to a new level. The level it should have reached in the first place. The owners of the property (Paramount) must have eventually realized this too, because it almost impossible to get a hold of the original theatrical (awful) release now...
I realise QMX are probably trying to differentiate their lines, but I prefer him in the classic colors as originally unveiled...
