yeah, I usually don't care for figure bases, and even though they have not showed detailed photos of the base alone, the base figured prominently in my decision to get this figure

I went from being a little bothered that they'd never mentioned an option for a standard to really looking at the base and realizing how amazing it looks. The exhaust pipe discolouration looks utterly fantastic. The truth is, had they put the standard up first, then the base version later, I'd likely have been emailing and demanding to upgrade to get the base, haha.

I believe ShumiRai only offered one version (with base) but after getting feedback they decided to offer it without the base and also the base alone. I'm really digging the base so sticking with it. Might actually pick up the standard too :lol

Aint spending 400 on a figure to let the pleather rot.
They're not using pleather, but ok.

Ah, that's awesome that they decided to do that. I love the base too, but there may be a few people who already placed an order even though they'd have preferred to have a lower price and no base, so hopefully stores will allow them to change over to standard.

So its real leather? Or vinly? Coz sure looks shiny on the jacket.

Looks like they may be planning SFC002 to be “Tomoe Yukishiro” from Rurouni Kenshin. Personally not much interest but seeing the variety of what they’ll be making is really neat.

Pretty much self-explanatory on the material usage for those interested.

In the close ups you can see the woven nylon fabric. So I think it's similar in concept to something like a waxed cotton. It should be durable or at least more durable than pleather. Time will tell

"Pleather" is not a technical term for manufacturing. Polyurethane is a technical term, but drilling down a bit more, there are 3 types of polyurethane coated fabric on the market today:
  • Polycarbonate (PC) – The best resin available. It is very durable with high resistance to humidity, heat and light.
  • Polyether (PET) - Good resistance to humidity, heat and light.
  • Polyester (PES) - Low resistance to humidity, heat and light. (Probably what most toy manufacturers use)

I was updating my preorder list last week, which reminded me of this figure. I went onto Shumi's FB page to see if they'd shared any progress information and noticed they'd disabled comments on their group just yesterday and also, a sculptor I follow on FB and Insta has posted about them in his story. A friend also mentioned that there was some discussion about them over the past week from their employees in another FB group. It seems all of the products that were listed on their online store have gone as well.

I wonder what's going on, maybe they got in trouble with one of their unlicensed figures? Seems strange that they'd try "disappearing" right when they start mass-produced figures and a partnership with Prime 1.

And did anyone actually get scammed? It seemed they were providing painting services and even delivering figures (such as the blonde BIllie Eilish) up until the beginning of this year, and there are IG posts going back at least 4 years with people receiving figures from them. Is this guy just guessing someone will be scammed? lol

Exactly my thoughts. I'm pretty sure they only announced a new figure a few weeks ago?!

I didn't want to share the screenshots of the post I was sent, as I'm not a member of the group the post was in and I also am not familiar with the person who made the post, so in no way can comment on how truthful the information was. The post basically mentioned employees losing trust over the past year due to salary related issues and unfair treatment, so they handed in resignations.
I didn't think much of it at all until the sculptor I follow made that story yesterday and I saw that the social media pages had been disabled and products removed from their store, so I assume something is going on, but it may not be exactly what I read in those screenshots.

That's interesting, I can't wait to hear more lol, I intend to preorder both their "Hikaru" and "Paripi" figures, it would be crazy if those get cancelled. If they really are in trouble for losing staff that's not really a scam lol, hopefully everything works out. Thank you for the extra info! I had no idea about any of this lol

Haha, no problem! I really want Hikaru to ship, so I really didn't pay any attention to the posts I was sent, but then I saw the disabled socials and thought 'Uh oh...'

Shumi Arts posted this notice on their "shumiartworks.com" store, would anyone here be willing to translate this?
