Your Top 10 Star Wars Scenes of All Time

Surely this has been done before? But maybe not recently.

RULES:

• Source from all films and series, live-action or animated.
• Action set-pieces, character exchanges, dogfights, lightsaber duels, whatever...but only 10 with 1 honourable mention.
• For this thread let's keep discussion of PT, OT, ST and/or the merits and deficits thereof out of it. That's in every 2nd Star Wars-related thread on this board (I'm guilty of it too) so let's leave those debates somewhere else.
• Don't think about it too long. Let the Force guide you.

1. Death Star Trench Run, ANH.
2. Battle of Hoth, ESB.
3. Luke and Vader's duel in Cloud City, ESB.
4. Dogfight and capital ship confrontation over Scarif, RO.
5. First Order TIEs chase the Falcon on Jakku, TFA.
6. Duel of the Fates, TPM.
7. Speeder Bike Chase on Endor, ROTJ.
8. Saw's insurgents ambush Imperial Stormtroopers on Jedha, RO.
9. Obi Wan v. Jango Fett, AOTC.
10. Speeder Bikes and TIEs pursue stolen Imperial Troop Transport, The Mandalorian Chapter 12.

Honourable Mention: Star Destroyer pursues the Tantive IV, ANH.

Leaving out so many other great scenes really hurt. Ouch.

This is hard. JAWS and ajp4mgs probably have their lists already on file.

But the Death Star trench run seems like a Sequence to me, not just a Scene. Lots of scenes make up that run. Same with Battle of Hoth. And of course the Battle of Scarif. Shouldn't we pick our favorite scene inside those long sequences?

Favorite Sequence: Battle of Scarif
Favorite Scene: setting off the explosives.... or battling the Death Troopers... or the death of K2... or the Walkers arrive... or the Hammerhead Corvette...

I think I cheated it on purpose to make it easier without endless sub-division as we geeks are prone to. To me, Trench Run is Luke's run and nothing preceding it, Battle of Hoth is much wider, from first sighting of AT-ATs to evacuation, but they're self-contained enough for my purposes.

I think participants can follow their own conscience so long as there's a logical beginning and end to the 'scene' or set piece, as in the Hoth example.

That's why I didn't overthink it. Something came to mind, it made the list. There are so many epic scenes in a property designed from the ground up to be...well...epic.

Things come to mind afterwards, they don't make the list. No matter how good.

6. ANH Tantive IV take-over (just because its the first thing I ever saw in this galaxy)
7. ESB Vader vs Luke duel
8. ROTJ Jabba meets Luke and serves him to Rancor
9. ESB Vader greets Han, Leia and Chewy on Cloud City
10. RO Vader slaughters rebel soldiers

Honorable mention: ESB Carbon Freeze of Han Solo

1.) Vader/Luke Bespin Duel (ESB)
2.) Luke unleashes on Vader leading to "...like my father before me." (ROTJ)
3.) Yoda lifts the X-Wing (ESB)
4.) Rescuing Princess Leia (ANH - if need be, condensed to escaping after trash compactor, while Kenobi vanishes)
5.) Trench run finale (ANH - if need be, condensed to Han taking out Vader and Luke hitting the shot)
6.) Snoke death and saber catch (TLJ)
7.) Speeders vs. AT-AT's on Hoth (ESB)
8.) Luke (and the audience) meets Yoda (ESB)
9.) Razor Crest/TIE dogfight (Mando Ch. 12 - probably receny bias, but I love the **** out of it)
10.) Luke & R2 in the Falcon (TLJ - this and Yoda dying are the closest I've ever gotten to being teary-eyed watching SW)

Honorable mention: Every other scene in the OT.

Jabba's Palace is probably my favorite extended sequence of all time, but no single scene from it is nearly as great as the sum of its parts.

I actually don't "rank" these kinds of things. It's nearly impossible anyway. And too many are often context reliant.

In doing this list, I tried to balance how I felt watching these scenes for the first time with how I think of them on rewatches.

I guess I’ll just go with combined scenes then. Duel of Fates is like 3 scenes. Obi/Anakin in ROTS is like 3-4 scenes for the whole thing.
