Nice to finally see a good image of Keaton as Batman at the 16-second mark.

Sounds like they would have been better off just making a 3rd Keaton movie.

It’s fascinating that this movie is still called The Flash and not Batman Flashpoint.

Well now that Indy is officially dead on arrival we know which movie will win June.

Keaton beat out Ford :horror

He looks great in all those scenes, actual and BTS.

Love how he looks in the Batwing. Takes me back to the pilot shots of him flying around Gotham in ‘89 and in the Batskiboat in Returns.

I will say that this is WB best marketing ever this movie going to be big.

It had to be super expensive though.

Ezra troubles actually helped it not hurt it they should have him choke more girls.

If you'd told me five years ago I'd be going to my first Keaton Batflick in 30+ years I'd have said...

OK, now that's I've seen it, I can probably going over some light basics here without spoiling anything.

1) Ezra Miller really does a great job IMHO with this role and in this film. HIs personal life and off camera scandals aside ( everyone is free to decide what their tolerance is for that, whether it's enough to make them not want to watch the film, to each their own), I consider him to be a pretty good actor. It's a bit unclear what Gunn will do here. Given Miller's specific "status", if he's booted, that's going to cause some backlash. If he's kept, again, that will cause backlash from a different direction. There are several instances where he just uplifts scenes by himself. He's got a nice easy chemistry with everyone. "Where Did I Leave My Cars Keys, Oh Yeah, At The Bar" Ben was a nice surprise here too.

2) Zod and Faora are great. Will always believe a standalone film of Krypton would have been pure solid gold within the previous Snyderverse

3) Keaton is here. He's not great. He's not bad. He's just sort of there. I appreciate the nostalgia but this is not a gamechanger kind of appearance. And that's OK too. Big lovers of the Burtonverse might not be the happiest in the world with this.

4) There is, IMHO, a concerted effort to "respect" the Snyderverse given the situation. If you are a Snyderverse hard liner, I don't think this will end up as a "wash your hands" indictment of what he did, or did not do. Action and SFX are decent, but this is more of a character driven story.

5) From a structural standpoint within the narrative, my best guess is Sasha Calle's role was trimmed. There are all kinds of reasons for that happening, or not happening. Interesting to see an extended version of this film.

6) From the industry side, from what I'm being told, the story works mostly because of John Francis Daley, who laid down the core concepts. Christina Hodson came in and cleaned it up some, which might be a better fit for her as a closer as she tanked Birds Of Prey.

7) Storytelling is economical but fundamental. That's a good thing. This is not blindly moving from set piece battle to set piece battle and it's not outright sadness porn that has hijacked many superhero stories. I credit the efficiency to JFD, because I can see a lot of the strengths of Game Night in the narrative.

8 ) Major question obviously here - Is this worth seeing on the big screen? I'm not a huge "at the movies" person most of the time and I'm not a fan of crowds. So that probably colors my view a bit.

This is, IMHO, the best DCEU film since Man Of Steel, and I have great affection for MoS. If you are a Snyder hard liner, I'd wholly recommend biting the bullet and going to the movie theater. I'm not a comics guy, so I can't tell you if this accurately honors some or all comic canon lore or not. If you have superhero fatigue/Phase saturation, this is a nice change of pace. This was not an easy role and Miller, just strictly as an actor, he really brought it. Maybe he's insane off camera, but here he offers the right kind of crazy apparently. This would be a more than solid film even if it wasn't linked to established comics. Which, to me, is the litmus test of how superhero movies should be judged.

MHG Rating - Worth seeing in theaters
