Well that’s at least arthouse. Criterion released both The Rock and Armageddon on dvd years ago.

Wow! Yeah, I bought the digital release of “The Keep” off of Amazon a couple years ago because I gave up on it ever getting another release on physical media.

From interviews that I’d seen with Michael Mann, it seemed like a movie that he wasn’t especially proud of, and I’d wondered if he was actually trying to prevent it from getting another official release.

It doesn’t look like Mann is involved but Vinegar Syndrome always go the extra mile with their releases, From Beyond, for example, is spectacular, but they have done a 4K scan of the camera negative so that is a good sign.

The bad news is the entire 12,000 limited editon of The Keep sold out over the weekend.
The good news is the Australian label Imprint are also going to be releasing a 4K edition, presumably from the same transfer.

PS i started with Risky Business. Doesn’t matter how bad the eighties clothes and hair is, I adore this movie, it’s a 9/10 for me and while grainy, Criterion’s transfer is extraordinary. You see more of Rebecca DeMornay than I have ever seen before. Yowzer.

PPS bought all of these in Black Friday sales. The prices are so out of control the rest of the year, I think this is the only time to buy now.

I have a soundbar and it took me forever to get it working with everything else, but i haven’t had that specific issue. Assume it works ok without the soundbar? Have you tried a different cable?

With Best Buy stepping out of physical media, what’s a reputable source for Steelbooks? I’ve heard of Zavvi (sp?) but not sure of others.

I know the regular retailers get one here and there - is that the best option now?

I usually have to order from Amazon. That's where I just got the Alien Romulus steel.

And Amazon does a great job shipping steelbooks I was so happy when they put my Mandalorian steel in a thin paper envelope lol
