Amilcar Fong did a digital sculpt inspired by Prey just for fun. It's much better than the film's IMO. Great job of mixing old and new elements while retaining the basic proportions of the creature.

I'm surprised that almost a week later I haven't taken it upon myself to watch it a second time. I think it's partly due to it being a victim of its own "respectability." Because I'm starting to feel that that's all that it is. Respectable. Not epic, not awesome, not terrible, not silly or hilarious, not offensive at all just--respectable. And therefore not something that I'm particularly excited about revisiting.
Yeah - "respectable" is a good word for it.
Mind - having said that - I have watched it THREE times now (and the 3rd time I was stone cold sober!

I used to watch a few of his videos myself, if we are indeed on about Heelvsbabyface, his Batwoman reviews were quite funny at times, but that show actually deserved it. But he's just depressing now, he's run with that and applies it to everything, him and Nerderotic are just as bad. Admittedly a lot of entertainment these days is pretty poor, but he just doesn't seem to like anything now. He clutches at straws to produce videos about the slightest thing before we've even seen much of the actual show, but I guess that's the niche he's going for. I really like the critical drinker, it's nice to see him gain he following he always deserved, but I hope he doesn't get dragged down by these kind of pessimistic moaners he's keeping company with. He doesn't need them, he has a good balance in general and at least looks for positives. If I was him I'd start distancing myself, they're hanging on to his fame anyway, not the other way around. Heel didn't like Prey naturally because it has a "Waman" in it. For all of it's faults, that isn't one, Drinker put out a much better review so you can save yourself considering Baby faces. Redletter media had another, they're probably my favourite YT channel even though I don't always agree with their views on movies.
So what you're saying is he just fixed everything that was wrong with the movie version and added the classic Predator "scallop" details around the head.

My guess is
1) The producers wanted a true "ugly MFer" ( Let's be honest, the Predator is so built into entertainment and movie lexicon and lore that Predators are actually "cool" now. Their look, their aesthetic, their swag is no longer treated like "alien" )
2) The producers want something less refined to show that there was an "evolution" of the Predators. The weaker, the less competent, the less clever, like the one in this film, died off over time
3) To give the humans a chance, this Predator needed to be about raw brute force. No real tactics. The story needed him as big, slow and dumb. So they gave him a face to indicate he was dumb, slow and big.
4) This Predator looks like a precursor to the Berkserker in the Adrian Brody Predators film. I geniunely think there's hope to link up the survivors for a film (Arnold, Danny Glover, Adrian Brody, Alice Braga, Adam Baldwin) minus the cast of The Predator and the AVP films.
Would be hilarious if they did a short video as an extra where this version of the Predator is the "hot one" back on his homeworld. Chick Predators just swarm this guy like he's Ryan Gosling with his shirt off in Crazy Stupid Love.

Yeah - the entire mob who constitute FNT are all cut off the same cloth now. Bitter, jaded, and biased for bias sake. It's a shame about Az as he used to be genuinely entertaining, as did Gary - but some time around Oct/Nov 2021, things started getting more and more negative, and I unsubscribed from all of them in December.
I watched about the first 4mins of Az's "Prey" video, and 1 minute of C.D.'s . . . that was all I needed to confirm I didn't need to bother watching either video any further

With all the money and effort that went into this, it is strange that they dropped the ball so bad with that horrible looking head. On another note, I got recommended a Youtube video of Peter Cullen (original Optimus Prime voice actor) earlier today. I had no idea that he was the voice of the original Predator.
Those voice actors from years back were such masters of their craft. Nowadays, I don't see that level of range or craftsmanship, and they rely too heavily on "real" actors to voice theatrical cartoons.

When you get to certain viewer "benchmarks" on YouTube, you are automatically assigned a "content manager"
This is why you'll see people in the same niches cross over to each others videos.
To some degree, the way it's been explained to me, you eventually get cornered if you monetize your videos. Which is why, IIRC, Russell Brand refuses to monetize his YT videos ( His viewer count could probably net him some decent money, i.e. decent to the average person, but he's already famous and wealthy from being an actor) Brand has kind of talked about it a little, that refusing to monetize gives him creative control.
People who make a living as "influencers", that's kind of a complicated grind. You are under constant pressure to pump out content, you are under constant pressure to get a certain number of views and subscribes, you are under constant pressure from your sponsors, if you get them and some of them even get stalked.
I used to know a guy who was a personal trainer, but for the very wealthy. He also spent time in the fashion industry. Basically a really good looking guy in elite shape and had women chasing him all the time. He would tell me that he'd get groped all the time during shoots or runway stuff. Basically the designers and photographers and magazine people and advertisers and whatever, the more powerful ones, would just straight up grope him. Because they knew he couldn't say anything. Or if he did, they could call him a bigot or misogynist or whatever else. He said he would go home and cry alone. But I mean if you met this person, you'd think, "Wow, this guy probably has it all" I mean he was good looking, young, ripped, making good money, had people be "nice" to him in the way really attractive looking people get treated by the general public. But there he was, getting man handled, and treated like a human toilet.
Things only look a certain way on the surface.
It's easy to be Tom Cruise and know if you piss off a million fans, you still have 80 million more waiting somewhere. How about if you are Nerdrotic and you gotta pay your mortgage and you realize you got 20 fans emails last week and now you only got 15 this week.

Sometimes I watch EmmyMade videos because she tries out some interesting receipes, and most of the time, it looks like she really wants to cry in front of the camera.
Give people an inch of fame and see how it breaks them. I like Critical Drinker, but if this is how he makes his living full time, it's probably pretty brutal in terms of emotional and mental grind.

I agree. He was probably the most pleasant surprise from the whole movie to me. Very good actor, who was really convincing in that role. The only issue I had was the it was pretty obvious what his arc would be from the moment he appeared on the screen in juxtaposition to his sister, but that's not his fault, of course.

He was amazing especially for a first role which just proves that acting really takes no skill and training at all to be convincing all this talk of great actors is just hot air self promotion and marketing.
Porn actors are just as good as Streep or Fienes.
The problem with this movie is that it felt like I was watching modern young adults playing 320 year old people.
Only thing missing were valley girl and brooklyn accents lol

Not everything that was wrong with the movie. Just what was wrong with the predator design.
By repositioning the upper mandibles and eyes, plus a few added details, he made him more in line with other predators most of us know and love.
