This film was Double 0….. K

Average Bond IMO. Story could have been told in 2 hours. Villain was average. My 2nd least fav of the Craig Bonds.

One thing I don’t like about these films, with this last one being the icing on the cake, is tge insistence of ending most of these films on a downer. It worked for CR and Vesper and Skyfall with M but this was now three out of the five with downers and IMO this series was not good enough to pull off the stunt they tried at the end.

Plus this version of Bond is too much of a quitter… He leaves being a spy three times in this series and basically quits again in this one.

I always assumed Bond loved being a spy…. Not so much with this version.

i did not hate it. I just thought it was ok and now that I know the ending, I can say did not care for the direction they took this character overall for this series. CR is still great though.

Connery is still the only Bond… Minus Diamonds are Forever lol

Yep. This is the Bond you get when a woman runs the show.

Sorry, girls... but its true. This is a male fantasy character, not a woman's... and it demonstrates where the direction goes when Barbara has the final say. Women don't care for gadgets and girls and great action sequences -- that which made Bond. I really felt her stamp on the Craig era more than any other time. Each movie seemed to emasculate Bond more and more in ways sometimes subtle, sometimes not... his masculinity was always questioned, his methods rough, called a "blunt instrument" and shown to be a dinosaur. The old ways.

In Goldeneye, the first female M called Bond a sexist, misogynist dinosaur and a relic of the Cold War. And right before that, Moneypenny was being all sassy and telling Bond that as far as she remembered, he never had her.

I spoiled it on myself last night - watched the Pitch Meeting. Couldn't help myself. I already had a fairly good idea what happened at the end from a few indirect comments I'd read here.

Well, I thought she was the best part -- she was fun, sexy, and entertaining... and was enjoying herself in the process. She was everything Bond should be... but hasn't been in quite some time.

Other than casting Craig, I do not care for Barbara's choices.

I liked Rami fine. He didn't have too much to do. The "secret base" was silly. The gimmick was good but the overall plot was unclear.

I was surprised by the ending.

Not a lot of action set pieces... at least not memorable.

I'm glad they didn't end Craig on the disappointment that was Spectre.

I agree that this movie falls smack in-between -- not as good as CR or Skyfall, but not as bad as QoS and Spectre. Nothing has touched Casino Royale (none of the Craigs I mean).

The Craig era has some beautiful scenery, meandering stories, a great-looking Bond, but has left me empty on the dashing, sophisticated spy.
Hmmmm, I didn't dislike Spectre. Other then the the whole Blofeld and Bond are brothers thing. Of the Craig films it reminded me the most of the older Bond films because it was a bit more fun and not so damn heavy like the other films had been. Now mind you I have only seen it twice and that was in the theaters so I have almost no memory if it. But I dont think its as bad as many have made it out to be.

The more I think of this film and this Bond Series as a whole I would say its just a big disappointment. Really the last three films all kind of run together. Nothing all that memorable in any of them other the the villain in Skyfall.

Meh.. After waking up this morning I am really not liking this new Bond film or the series as a whole.

CR is still great and almost a perfect Bond movie.

Mission Impossible is my go to bond films now. Much better action and Stunt man Cruise is freaking amazing lol

Hmmm

Well….

It was the best action movie i’ve watched since ZSJL.

There was absolutely nothing woke in this movie whatsoever all those years of anger and disgust for nothing lol

Lots of good in it.

But……..

It also suffers from an overtly simple plot that was weirdly made out to be complicated.

I went in with such low expectations of the villain that I actually ended up not hating him.

Love the opening.

When the “Bond” deep bass trombones kick in you will get goosebumps.

I rate it 2nd best in the DC era after CR.

Bond vs Michael Myers next
What was the villains motivation for killing most of the worlds population in this one?? His parents were killed?

Jye did you not like Skyfall? I think its overrated but thought because the villain was so much better in that one then this one it was a much better Bond film.

But that was perfect IMO. Because even though he was called all that and the fact hat times had changed, Bond himself did not change nor give a ****. He was still banging broads, drinking booze and killing without remorse.

Remember that the CR era is a first in the Bond series with it being a fully formed cinematic universe way beyond what they attempted before like way beyond.

So for that reason alone i’m actually forgiving of the entire series.

I do like QOS, Skyfall and yes even Spectre more than most will give them credit for BECAUSE as a whole it tried something new for Bond which was to rip off the MCU lol

But because I am more forgiving that means I will be more forgiving of NTTD than you.

But I agree that Silva > Freddie Mercury

I really enjoyed NTTD but yeah this had Dark Knight Rises' fingerprints all over it, lol. He was quitting things left and right with barely the slightest shreds of incentive to do so. Instantly assume that a booby trap from a worldwide criminal organization had to have been initiated by your wife who's had countless opportunities to kill you in your sleep? Um okay James just throw your entire life away without spending a single millisecond to think that through, lol.

And yes this movie might not have had the best quality of action (pretty sad that Bond still can't compare to True Lies 25 years later) but it certainly had a high quantity of action which helped the pacing despite the long run time.

In all of Craig, I can only remember the construction site chase in CR and the Hinx fight in Spectre. Everything else is either way too quick, or big action/chases on rooftops or dusty European streets that all feel the same.

I know there is action… I just don’t know how many of them I would consider great.

I do like the Casino stairwell fight.
Everything in QOS is awful with the exception of the escape from the opera house.
