MODS CAN YOU MOVE THIS TO THE CUSTOM SECTION? MY PHONE POSTED IT TO THE WRONG SECTION.

I started this build about three weeks ago.
I used mostly plumbing parts and some broken open electrical items for the smaller parts. It's actually all built on our toilet roll holder from the bathroom....the missus hasn't noticed it's gone yet!

Weathering was done with table salt and lots of washes!!!

The beginning...

I built it mostly out of found parts either from my house or from work.

I know it's not screen accurate but I like it.

Any questions feel free to ask.

No offense, but where you fail in screen accuracy is posing Luke in front of it with a lightsaber. ;)
My suggestion, lose Luke and pose a custom Owen and Beru near it. You know, after the
Stormtroopers left. :D

What kind of paint and colors did you use? When you salt weathered it, did you apply a different color paint afterwards? Incredible imagination and detail!

Thanks all. It was a fun one to do as most the parts were easy to come by.
The only reason Luke is there is because I'm selling him and he was close to hand!!! Roll on HT Farmboy...I'll be posing this alongside my Sideshow Dewback when I get some time this weekend. Luke was just a stop gap.

As for paints, I primed everything grey with a cheap euro / Dollar store €1 per can primer. Then painted the rusty areas with Games workshop Bestial Brown. While the brown was still wet I covered the painted area in salt. I sprayed it white with cheap white spray paint from the Euro / Dollar store. When this was dry I rubbed off the salt to expose the brown (rust) underneath the white. I then added the lights (yes it lights up!!!) Then gave it a a very good wash with Games Workshop seraphim sepia.
The base was covered in PVA glue and covered with real sand (very messy job!)
Glad you all think it looks good.
Jay.

True magic, a little paint and it looks like a hundred times the sum of it's combined parts. :clap

Everyone should have a vaporator. Does it light up?

Yep it lights up. The 4 poles each have an led in the bottom that's powered by a 9 volt battery that's housed in the square box part. The lights are 2 blue and 2 white and the flash intermittently. There is a very small switch on the under side of the box to turn the lights on and off. I was trying to upload a short video on here but the file is wrong format...

Cool how did you make the rust?

Best,

Robert
The rust was quite East and it works better if you have an air gun but it can be done with a normal spray can.

You prime what ever you are painting.

Then paint on a rusty brown or orange...while this rust coloured paint is still wet cover it with regular table salt or rock salt.
Then let it dry completely.
Then paint over the rust with your final coloyr spray can or air gun.
Let this dry completely.
When it's dry rub off the salt with your finger and it should come off to leave the rust colour underneath you sprayed on colour.

Cool thanks!

Looking at this again, I like pic #7 the best. Why? I just noticed the shadow of the Sandtrooper.
Very ominous and leads to my first post after all! Nice job.
