Re: Masters of the Universe: Revelation

It'll at least look good since it's by the same animation studio as Castlevania. Not really familiar with the franchise other than from the memes though.

Re: Masters of the Universe: Revelation

Are you excited for this, Blade, or just dropping the news?

This lost me at Kevin Smith.

Both. I don't know if anything's changed since these tweets came out, but I hope not:

Now, while the official synopsis appears to tell a conflicting story...

A radical return to Eternia, Revelation is a direct sequel series to the classic era of Masters of the Universe. Featuring fan-favorites He-Man, Orko, Cringer and Man-At-Arms, the story pits our heroic warriors and guardians of Castle Grayskull against Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, Beast Man and the vile legions of snake mountain!

But after a ferocious final battle forever fractures Eternia, it’s up to Teela to solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to prevent the end of the Universe! Her journey will uncover the secrets of Grayskull at last. This is the epic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe saga fans have waited 35 years to see!

...I suspect they're not giving away the plot to the entire series here. My guess is the battle they're referring to takes place in the first half of the season. He-Man or Adam will disappear and Teela will team up with some unlikely allies to bring him back, after which the spotlight will be on everyone as it should.

It wouldn't make sense to cater the show exclusively to the [modern] She-Ra crowd, given how traditional the action figures look.

I grew up on the 2002 reboot. Happy to see the grittier, comic-book style make a comeback on Revelation, but I still prefer the 2002 armor designs.

The head of Netflix’s content is a a huge masters of the universe collector. I think he was the brainchild behind this and dictated that it can’t be a silly show. I am cautiously excited.

Why does Teela look like a dude and Orko looks like a girl?

Because 2021. Supposedly most of those images are from the first half of the first episode where everything connects to the original cartoon and then some big cataclysmic event happens in order to give them an excuse to go full woke for the rest of the series.

He-Man gets sidelined, Teela gets the SJW haircut and becomes a dude with a black girlfriend, etc.

Geez... I had high hopes this show wouldn't go woke like Netflix She-Ra did (which made me not want to watch it) since Kevin Smith was attached to it and I was under the impression he's going to guide the show to be better than POP somehow. :dunno

One positive thing I see is the art is so much better than Netflix She-Ra. Well, we'll see in July, still hoping the show would turn out good.

Sidelined for how long? Given this is only 5 episodes, that is ****ing stupid. And Teela gay? If true, Smith can suck my ass.

IIRC each "season" is going to be five episodes and He-Man will be down and out for the majority of this one. Woke Teela and her girlfriend will go on a quest to restore the Power Sword and bring him back or something like that.

Smith denied all of those rumors. I assume the synopsis we have is more of a setup for the first few episodes rather than the entire series. It also wouldn't surprise me if these images are only from those.

As for the episode breakdown, this is a limited series so there will only be one season. We're getting the first half (five episodes) in July and the second half at a later date. If He-Man does disappear at some point, I imagine he'll be back within the first half. Worst case scenario, he appears at the end of the fifth episode as a cliffhanger and then we have to wait.

Maybe I'm being naive, but I don't see them handling this like She-Ra. It doesn't make sense given the aesthetic, the action figure line, the people in charge (big MOTU fans), and Smith's posts. For all we know, the source that "leaked" the bits about Teela only saw some materials pertaining to the setup and they made an assumption about the series as a whole.

She's very cute, looks like a younger, buff Sharon Carter.

I don't want a girl who can bench me though.

Grow stronger!

She's not that big, but she looks like superhero when compared to normal women.

That's what Wonder Woman and other female superhero should look like on film, but most actresses don't want to put in the work in the gym like the male actors, and then SOME talk about wage gaps and "equality."
