Those are some great mods to the detolf. Makes for a much more attractive display with the mirrors. Will do the same when A) I pick up some detolfs B) Afford to do those mods

Dude! Awesome idea's! I'm going to order mirror backs for mine asap! Thanks for sharing Nacho

No probs fellas, glad you guys like the ideas and glad I could help.

Hi fellas
Yeh ..I've already been aproached about selling the rods,
but at this point in time I wouldn't be able to as I'm about to start moving
house and I just wouldnt have the spare time to make these especially
as some people would need several pairs.
Sorry to disapoint.
There is no doubt that I will be making these again in the near future
and if anyone would like to be notified just let me know.

I bent the rods using a steel bending machine I have axess to at work.
But you can also bend the rods using a vice and a hammer.

if any one would want to buy them a could make those in a flash, the round bar you can buy in lengths of 6 feet for $5,l will be going for a welding apprenticeship soon and have been working in my dad mechanics shop all my life it would only take 5 minutes per bar, just measure bend and grind.

here the mods l did re welded all the bars and added round bar cross ways under the glass in case the glass snaps from the weight the bars will catch the statue and the wont come crashing down. l added a mirror right after l got it. the lurtz l just got yesterday and the berserker the week before. the lurtz is my grail so far. l will do this with all my detolfs.

Don't know if anybodies tried it but if you can't afford to replace the glass in your detolf with mirrored glass a cheap alternative is this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mirror-Roll-Flexible-50cm-Sticky/dp/B003H69V0Y
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MIRROR-ON-A-...vr_id=&cguid=c42b34301280a0e202f3bbc3fe46725d

Lots of different versions and sizes about.
Not sure if this one

I remember my dad using some in the past to make a normal piece of glass mirrored but you have to be carefull to get all the airholes out when applying or it looks crap.

Add me to the list. I feel like I've wasted so much space with only 2 PF's in each. I'm interested.

Those mods are SWEET! I ordered my first Detolf this weekend and can't wait to see what mods I can devise!

Using wire rope is a good, cheap way of modding them. It's also easier than re-welding stuff. Although you will need some pre-cut lengths of metal unless you want to cut your own.

i ordered my mirror from a local glass supplier, they will get mirror if you ask

Have you got pics, having a hard time working out what you mean?

Pics aren't great but...

You'll need these (wire cutters + hand swag)
https://s1014.photobucket.com/albums/af268/mike1411/?action=view&current=Tools.jpg

These (3mm round bar cut to length, 32cm)
https://s1014.photobucket.com/albums/af268/mike1411/?action=view&current=Poles.jpg

This (wire rope 2mm 7x7)

These (swages or ferrules 2mm)

Make a loop over one of the existing rungs on the detolf and crimp the swage

https://s1014.photobucket.com/albums/af268/mike1411/?action=view&current=Upper.jpg

Do the same down the bottom
https://s1014.photobucket.com/albums/af268/mike1411/?action=view&current=Lower.jpg

You should end up with this
https://s1014.photobucket.com/albums/af268/mike1411/?action=view&current=Both.jpg

Allowing you to set up your detolf like this
https://s1014.photobucket.com/albums/af268/mike1411/?action=view&current=Full.jpg

Total cost for everything including tools and enough kit to do 5 complete detolfs was $100AUD

If you want more info or pics let me know

mike14 idea is not bad, but l would worry just in case the wire comes apart at the ends with the clamp. l have only 2 detolfs. l welded all the bars for strength (for my PFs). then l bought some round bar, cut it and re welded them for an extra shelf. looks factory. then added a mirror to each. the mirrors l found for sale and just had them cut to size. l have a welder, saws and all the equipment, so it's easier for me l guess because l can do it my self.

just noticed l have pics of mine on the previous page. that was before l added an extra shelf 12 inches from the top.
