Didn't a rep from BCS used to be on these boards some time ago? Then when people started giving constructive criticism they went off in a huff.

I think ultimately BCS had too much on their plate and they got overwhelmed in the end, obviously trying to cut corners as much as possible and improve their profit margins. (the tailoring in particular was pretty sub par on the Bond figs, the sculpts were good but the paint apps were also lacking imo.) We got the excuses come out about covid and supply chain issues, moving to new factories etc. Ultimately though it was down to BCS to overcome these problems and it appears they couldn't. Wheather they lost the Bond licence or had it taken off them, who knows? I think they probably relinquished it, as they were probably making too many losses.
I've always felt like the interest just wasn't there for them. As if they got the license and though ''Oh, now what?''

Would've been executed a whole lot differently if it were a franchise either trendy, culturally irrelevent or produced by Gerry Anderson.

The problem was definitely not that BCS had a "Oh, now what?" attitude towards the license. The problem was EON taking painfully long to approve anything they attempted to produce.

That's the truth.

Greggo and BCS are BIG fans of Bond, that is absolutely true. I remember Greggo from his days here and he truly loves Bond, especially the older movies. So his heart is in the right place.

I think a lot of problems conspired together: Danjaq (EON) being slow, pandemic, factory issues, etc. They did seem to have a lot of work rendered and ready for approvals going by that booklet they released.

But BCS also has internal problems and a history of taking a long time and product not coming out like the prototype. Many people here moaned when BCS got the license and warned of this type of thing happening. And it did. Have to face facts.

I just want a lot of Bond dollies on my shelf. Can't someone make them? Please?

I found Greggo on Facebook and contacted him on messenger to ask about the box art photos for Dr No Connery and how he “made” the miniature casino props. It turned out that everything, including the gambling table were screen grabs from the movie that he then Photoshopped. The film producers’ only stipulation was to not have any people included in the screen grabs. That was nice of Greggo to share.

I hope we see more releases from DiD. They made a decent Brosnan and their Roger Moore figure was excellent. As they were not official Bond figures as such, EON can stay out of it.
Agreed. I can only hope they take advantage of this saga+ and make the Dalton we've missed out on and maybe even their own take on Connery. Their unlicensed likenesses over the past 20 years or so have shown they know how to knock this sort of thing out of the park.

With that said though, It's quite sad how, as collectors and enthusiasts, we need to rely on third parties for our hit of good figures. Resident Evil has the same issue.

You'd really think good quality Bond figures would already be out there, what with how so many franchises have figures - knocked off by all means but nevertheless - at the ready from a variety of manufacturers. Seems like a market that's just begging to be dug into; every Daniel Craig that's been made over the years has sold very well indeed and those £15 Sean Connery heads are everywhere!

Would anyone know if there's 1/6 casino table available to buy?

Im guessing EON didn't approve because they looked at the BCS proto and told them to try again? 3 Bond figures in like 5 years is a bit poor really + No Dalton or Brosnon, not even a proto. Unfortunately as I predicted early on BCS would not be able to handle this licence. I remember there was a collective sigh round here when BCS got the Bond licence.

My Goldfinger Connery fig was only salvageable thanks to a sculpt repaint, new body and of course a new suit. They never really addressed these issues going forward with their latter releases, still using below par bodies, poor paint apps and wrong materials for clothing.

That's pretty rich. You remember it differently because you were the one that chased them off. And a number of people called you out for being rude to them.

Greggo was just a mouthpiece for BCS. When I called BCS out about the shortcomings with the Goldfinger Bond, he just tried to shut me down. Im sorry but this is a 1/6 collector forum where we are all entitled to our opinion, within reason. I gave praise too for their graphic designs and box art, seemed to capture the spirit of Bond. Its hardly surprising that someone with a vested interest in a company you are critiquing dosent want to hear negative comments.

I agree Shells, and I do believe the critique helped make the product better so I think it’s more than warranted. I was as if not more vocal and I love Gregg I also think he’s talented as hell but the figures were always plagued with problems.

Knowing how a difficult Eon is I still praise them for doing what they did but I can’t help but feel that the weakness of the figures and the defects is the main reason the line failed.

For those of you who updated your BCS Bond figures to new bodies, was there a new body in particular that is recommended considering the elongated neck on these figures?
I’d like to know as well now that I have one again.

I know with my original, I used an old wide shoulder HT body which helped with the proportions, but I also had to cut some of the neck off to make it look right. Would be nice to not have to do that this time around. I did try the Worldbox AT020 but I didn’t see much difference in the way the clothing sat on the body compared to the stock BCS body

I used an Endgame Capt. America body with a thin undersuit and it worked out well

Interesting 🤔 I tried one of the similar bodies that has the endgame Cap torso but normal arms and legs and the shirt was struggling to close so I tossed that out as an option, at least for Goldfinger Bond. If you did it for one of the other Bonds, maybe the shirt was a little bigger across the body? Or maybe the Goldfinger Bond I picked up has a badly tailored shirt. It wouldn't surprise me give what I've seen from other BCS figures particularly how badly some of the shirts on the most recent DR. No Bond were done.

I'd like to avoid cutting the neck and re-seating the plug if I can... but it doesn't sound like there are any bodies out there that have a deep enough neck post. So I either cut the neck or keep the BCS body. Ugh!

Appreciate the feedback though, guys, thank you.
