I think it's just a problem with scale. To get the bumpy look to scale, the texturing on the figure would have to be extremely fine which may not be doable - hence the more exaggerated texture.

They were so clunky and slow, there was no sense of drama and intensity. I wish they shot it similar to the Corellia chase from Solo.

There also seems to be more of that black wash on the final product which brings out more of the sculpt.
