I wonder if this is a case of set colour vs. screen colour? Is the set colour the one we’re seeing for Odo?

Someone asked N on FB "are the colors of Odo's uniform final, or an early prototype?" and in reply he went mildly ape-poop about official vs unofficial photos, and questioning the commenter's ability to discern color and knowledge of the costumes. This does not bode well.

I hate being this nitpicky/negative/critical, but this inability to advise him when there might be a potential problem is infuriating. I just want the final product to be all it can be so that I can give them lots of money for it.

Thanks for keeping us all posted :duff

Thank-goodness for the sanity that is this forum :mexwave

Speaking of colors, y'all put those DVDs away!

We are going into this Set and Screen color non-sense arguments again.

You will not see the color that you remember from the badly produced DVD color. Ask 10 different persons about the color, and we will have 10 different colors. One will say we did an amazing job and 9 would say Nanjin is a **** head with no sense or a total blind.

We will only use the best available info to determine the color, and this will not be what you see from your DVD. Same thing applies to Kira's uniform.

Odo and Kira's outfit colors are even harder to nail down comparing to TOS. Even grey cards were useless.

I will only listen to those who have actual screen used pieces in their hands. I will not listen to those who use screen caps.

If their uniform colors are so hard to get right, how does he know the colors EXO-6 is using are correct?

Lots of money? You plan on buying multiple Odo's? I mean I agree he did get a little touchy when the guy brought up if it was the final product but I'm sure it's super annoying when your spending so much time doing research and paying people to get things right and some keyboard nerd is like "actually I think the colors are wrong". Unless someone has a screen used uniform or swatches the wardrobe department used they really don't have any idea what they are talking about so their opinion doesn't really matter. We all know stuff looks different in certain lighting and pictures do not do majority of these figures justice. Trust the process. So far all the tailoring has been executed pretty well.

Same thing applies to choosing the correct outfits colors. If I don't go through this fact checking phase, I don't deserve to have this license. Everyone should just keep enjoying their Playmates figures.

“When we begin production, we will dye the color correctly.”

Coulda saved a lot of energy just saying that in the first “Odo is done” post.
The occasional "The Cheese Slid of His Cracker" Nanjin post help give this hobby its charm. I especially like the "carnival barker" nod.

I'm (hopefully) buying one. Not everyone measures "a lot of money" the same way.

I agree, but the guy that stirred it up on FB never said that, he simply asked if the colors were final. A simple "No" would have been fine.

I especially like the "carnival barker" nod.

Which likely tells us he's still reading this board, or one or more of his intelligence spies are (names comes to mind I won't share).

But this is typical. He knows he got the color wrong, but he's so sure that he'll lose all his credibility (self-measured) if he directly admits he or his team is anything less that the final arbiter of what is truth and that what 99% of his customers and other observers only THINK they see with their lying eyes is fiction.

So he has to write twelve paragraphs worth of righteous indignity to bury the "the color on the sleeves and pants is wrong" comment within to save face (self-measured, of course).

And this is why it can be so frustrating engaging with him.

Nanjin, we respect and appreciate you more than you can know. We are indebted to you (literally and figuratively, lol) first for your dream to make this all a reality, and for your drive and ambition to see this project through, and we are FULLY aware that no one else would have taken this on at all, let alone to the extent and to the depth you have. We profoundly thank you for all of the personal and professional risk you must surely undertake on a daily basis to make all this happen.

But we'd sure love it if you would let us in... through the FRONT door. So we, the folks who are dying to be loyal repeat customers all the way to the end, can share our thoughts and feedback at, and prior to the prototype stage, so that we can all get to the (as close to ideal) final products as possible and ensure that each individual product is a resounding success both financially for EXO and in towering satisfaction from the customer base.

Easier said than done, for sure... Not every customer is realistic enough or thoughtful enough to offer USEFUL feedback, and I'm sure just tuning it all out and just making the figures you personally want is far easier. And it is YOUR company, after all. We all have to respect that as well. We also have to respect that there are situations when we all know what the "right" choice might be for a figure's design, wardrobe, accessories, etc. but that it is just not fiscally or practically possible for the company achieve in a mass production proposition. We'll all have to acknowledge and accept this from time to time, and only EXO itself can let us know when those circumstances arise (for instance, I'd like an Odo who can move between Odo to a gelatinous form to a flask of Saurian Brandy and back again, but I'll probably have to wait for the 2.0 version for this).

But a bit more balance in this regard would be appreciated more than we can say. Its not a lot of fun when a business you want to send your money to considers you an enemy or a saboteur ANY percentage of the time when offering sincere and hopeful feedback. We understand that there is a segment of LESS than sincere and hopeful criticism you'd for sure need to tune out for EVERYONE'S sake. But at the moment, it seems like you're taking a tact which throws the baby out with the bathwater a decent percentage of the time. We all want the same thing. So ignore the idiots 100% of the time (I'm hopeful you don't think I fit that category, but that's for you to decide :ROFLMAO:), but acknowledge that only a small fraction of us fit that label. Please and Thank You.

Color is wrong on Odo Nanjin you egotistical lurker 🤣🤣🤣
Haven't you heard? He's the only Trek fan remotely qualified to judge uniform colors. The rest of us are complete simpletons who know nothing about how light and color grading and different TV settings can change how things look.
