Seeing how the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers likenesses and QC came out has me worried about these. Gonna suck if I wind up with a bunch of broken figures, since I pre-ordered the whole wave.

Yeah it was a gamble. Most of the opinions online seem to suggest that the final products from Super7 seem to be mostly sub par. But yeah the Power Rangers are really disappointing

Looks like Guinan is being reissued this wave. It's odd. Makes me wonder if the line isn't doing so well considering wave 2 has gone from 4 all new figures to 2 all new figures and a reissue.

Super expensive products, big delays and horrible final quality. I never will be buying something from Super7 another time. With the simpsons wave 1 it was enough.

All three look pretty good, did anyone dabble in the first wave? How did Riker and Data turn out at the end?

I like the likenesses but again, only digital renders. What do these actually look like?

Guinan has actually been pushed back rather than re-issued. I pre-ordered the first wave from Entertainment Earth and noticed the release date of Guinan is now different from Riker, Data and Locutus. I'm not sure what caused the changed but she's no longer part of wave 1. So that's two waves with three figures each.

These do look really great. I dig the slightly stylised look but after reading comments I’ll wait for reviews.

So I’m only operating on a couple hours sleep post a night shift but does that mean that I’m going to have to re order Guinan ? And if so, are we being reimbursed for the original pre order ??

Just order Picard and Worf separately.

Unfortunately I just received an email from Entertainment Earth regarding this line. Guinan has indeed been cancelled due to lack of pre-orders and will not be produced. No indication of an issues with any of the other figures but that leaves Wave 2 consisting of just Picard and Worf.

I got the same from BBTS. With wave 2 still so far away, I wonder if they'll slot in a different character, or if they decide to just call it quits there.

Yeah, I've never heard of a company doing this before, but this is the second time in the past few months that I've heard of Super 7 cancelling a product due to lack of interest during early solicitation.

I understand wanting to expand the line, but to do an ancillary character like Guinan before completing the core crew wasn't the best of choices. Q would have been a better choice if anyone. Locutus works because it's still a Picard and it's one of the more popular aspects of the series.

Then there are people like me who intend to buy things but know that there isn’t always a need to preorder when you can simply pick it up when it’s released. Why cancel based upon preorders? Maybe they should just go the Haslab route if they insist on producing based upon preorders.

On the one hand I understand that a company has to balance business considerations vs. fan desires so the fact that Super 7 decided to cancel the Guinan figure isn't necessarily problematic...but on the other hand...Star Trek has a history of abandoned figure licenses recently between QMX, McFarlane and Playmates revival (no official word from them but I get the feeling they are not moving forward with more). This cancellation by Super 7 rattles my confidence that we won't end up with another abandoned Star Trek line that gives us just a partial main crew. I think at the very least Super 7 should post an update on their site and socials that clarifies their commitment to the Star Trek license. I may cancel my other pre-orders as this leaves me feeling uneasy about investing in another dead-end Star Trek line.

It seems like Paramount may have gone overboard with granting figure licenses which has led us to the current state where there's a glut of figures being produced between Hiya Toys, Exo-6, Super 7 and Playmates. I'm not sure there's enough market capacity to support so many lines. Star Trek is one of those action figure licenses where having a complete crew determines if the line was a success or a failure so the companies really have to commit to a long-term plan if they intend to get through more than than a few key characters for a given show (TNG, DS9, VOY etc.).

Most Super 7 products are made to order (or so they claim). They are a small company and can’t overproduce with nothing more than the hope that someone will buy it. If preorders from direct consumers and retailers aren’t going to guarantee a profit, they aren’t going to take the risk. Especially given that Guinan requires all new molds, whereas the crew members have a lot of reuse.

Fair enough…which is why they should definitely adopt something along the lines of the Haslab model. I intended to buy Guinan either way, if they had declared that the fate of the figure rested in the hands of preorders I would have placed one, and I imagine I am not alone.

Super 7 has a well-established way of operating that long time customers are aware of, but your experience demonstrates that they need to do a better job of communicating to new customers when they take on new properties.

FYI, they are using the Haslab/crowd funding model for their latest big ticket item, the Thindercats Cats’ Lair. This is the first time they have done this, so perhaps they are learning.

This Guinan situation was addressed a month ago by Brian Flynn from Super7. It was in a video interview available on YouTube. It was supposed to be about Thundercats but he spoke about several things, such as the state of the toy industry, production runs, and customer orders. He threw out the Guinan cancelation and the cancelation of "The Rescusers" wave of Disney Ultimates.

Super7 isn't going to cancel the line after only two waves and an incomplete crew. We still have LaForge, Dr. Crusher, Counselor Troi, and perhaps Q and Wesley at least. All easily done by switching parts. Judging by their other Ultimates lines, they will at least complete TNG and then see where or if to go from there. They're not like other companies who promise the galaxy and only deliver four or five crew members just so someone can have the unproduced figures in their private collection.
