My local shop where I pre-ordered this (26 months ago :horror) finally got him in, so I finally received my Sonar Bats last week!
I unsubscribed from this thread back in January so I wouldn't be "spoiled" too much by all the pictures, so I was amazed to see so little posts here.

This seems to a bit of a sleeper hit IMO, since I think the figure is really great! Definitely has that man in a suit vibe, and I love the color finish of the suit that changes depending on the lighting. He's more silver/black under the Detolf lights, and more silver/blue during daylight. This is also the first HT cape I don't feel the need to replace as it drapes really well.

I don't know if the rather lackluster Robin took away from some of its thunder, or if the oversized scale bothers people too much (I display him on a single shelf and have no other figures to pair him with, so luckily that doesn't bother me here), or it's just the movie itself, but I can see this figure being quite sought after in a few years.

And while this is definitely a museum pose type of figure for me, I still like how subtle changes to his pose gives him some attitude.
It's definitely been a great year for DC figures in my collection so far with this and InArt Joker.

Fantastic photos, @agonistes86 👏🏻👏🏻

I agree with your sentiments about this figure. It’s really fantastic and stands out on the shelf. I think he pairs incredibly well with Robin. They compliment each other nicely.

It is helped by the new larger scaling that HT now do but this figure has such great shelf presence. Makes him feel like a beast of a Batman compared to what you saw on screen.

Really beautiful, crisp photos, agonistes. Pics like these make me rethink not purchasing this.
It really depends how attached you are to this interpretation I think. The figure is beautiful, but if you don't like the movie, you might get bored over time.
I'm still a fan of the movie, as it's the first Batman movie I saw in the cinema, and it holds up surprisingly well nowadays IMO. The movie is pure comic book fun for me.

While Batman is clearly oversized, it's really not a consistent thing HT is doing, and is more the exception. Batman and Captain America seem to be most effected by this, but most figures are still proper 1:6 scale (all of SW for example).

Yeah, beautiful photos and subtle posing.

What you say above is a big deal; I didn't hate the film when it came out ... it just sort of washed over me with the media landscape of the times.

There were no Nerd Stakes, it was just entertainment (and now that I think of it, this is why Disney Star Wars and MCU keep chugging along) and I was too busy being young and having a good time. That being said it's the time period I may have some nostalgia for, not the movie itself so it makes sense (regardless of my semi-retired collecting state) that I wouldn't have purchased this.

Finally got the time (and resources) to take some proper photos of these guys. And they looked so good under that lighting, they're really great figures.

Time. Mine has been on display for nearly 4 months and the stickiness and plastic smell have gone away.
Same experience here. Although mine had some dust that stuck to the sticky ness since I like to take it out of the moducase as a desk piece. I used 303 and a microfiber cloth to wipe it. Not sure if that helped as well.

Stickiness and smell are still present on mine. Had em since February.
Haven't used the 303 wipes(?) or anything besides Swiffer duster wipes.

Is there anyone that did a a custom unmasked Val Kilmer head? Thinking of buying a second one and having him unmasked

I actually trying to find reference photos, but none exist of an UNMASKED Val Kilmer in his suit.

Certainly there were none of him in the Sonar suit - closest was mid movie after Grayson saves him from being buried by 2 face I think he was wearing the lower half of the Panther suit.

Unless I am forgetting a scene, and apart from Keaton ripping the cowl off towards the end of Batman Returns, the first time Bruce was shown wearing the suit without the cowl was Batman Begins.

How sticky are the Batman and Robin suits? Is it a bad idea to display them if they are exposed to possible dust?

It's a crapshoot, I guess. Some say the tackiness fades after a while. Others, myself included, noticed it's still present. I did use the 303 wipes and and mine aren't as bad anymore.
