I’ve come to appreciate the simple undeniable fact that I have experienced these 2 greats in SW history:

1. Skarsgard’s epic monologue on that elevator walkway in Andor.

2. Visual realization of something I never thought I would ever live to see the day, jet pack armored armada flying in formation against another jet pack armored armada.

All due respect to Picard’s reunion and it was handled with respect but i’ll take those 2 anytime over the beat over your head nostalgia legacy trip down memory lane.

There were times in Picard final episode that I honestly think they were referring to their journey as actors instead of the actual characters they’re supposed to be serving it was really on the nose!

It was literally “Can you believe we’re together again on this set…I mean on this starship” levels of fan service on steroids dialogue lol

How did Carrie Fisher look better than Sir Patrick Stewart on film, his face is stretched frozen his mouth doesn’t move lol

Anyways I digress, sue me lol

Back to SW.

I feel that the current trend of a hardcore dry serious tone (Andor) and hardcore swashbuckling (Mando) is alive and well both are there offering different styles of SW to enjoy.

You can’t get more hardcore swashbuckling than armored warriors using jet packs with swords, guns and grappling hooks, you just can’t. Then add in the John Wick style action and i’m all set.

I’m in a great place with SW right now.

For Wor-Gar to say something nice about Mando S3 I know my feelings are not deceiving me lol

I was bummed out with BOBF / OBW but even they had amazing stuff on display mixed in with the unfortunate bad….you know just like with anything SW related after ESB.

I’m excited for Ahsoka and Acolyte now.

I’m looking forward to the live action version of Handy Manny.

Change of pace for me today though i’m going to church then going to go watch Evil Dead Rise.
Perfectly stated. :clap

I am very much looking forward to Ahsoka, not sure about The Acolyte yet though.

Acolyte is set during the "High Republic" era isn't it and will focus on the Jedi and Sith?
I know to a lot of fans Star Wars is all about the Force and lightsabers and Jedi vs Sith etc but to me, they've always been the least interesting thing about Star Wars.
Post PT, Force wielders have become more like super heroes with super powers. Its gotten even worse since the ST. Jedi and Sith seem more like they belong in one of those Marvel movies.
On top of that, I read that at least one of the writers hadn't even seen Star Wars when they were brought on board.
The cherry on the top is that it's from Weinstein's personal assistant.
This project will get the same treatment as the upcoming Rey movie. Ignored as if it doesn't exist.

I'm not planning on giving the Ahsoka show the same treatment. I'll keep an open mind with it, but everything I've heard about it and saw in the trailer suggests it's going to be very much a Filoni project and I'm not that much of a Filoni fan.
The stuff he does with clones and Mandos is OK but I've never liked his approach to the Force and the Jedi. Wasn't a fan of his Force animals, the wolves, the owl thing etc etc not a fan of Hyperspace whales, or Bendu's (or whatever that thing was called), the family representing the lightside/darkside/balance, the time travel temple etc etc.
I'm not a fan of Rebels either and didn't like any of the characters very much unfortunately.
So this show, stuffed full of Filoniisms and Rebels characters, Filoni's favourite character Ahsoka (I've always been quite indifferent to her, neither like or dislike her) which is a big signal to me that the show probably isn't for me.
Which is fine.
If I do watch any of it and it's not my cup of tea, I won't have lost anything, I have no attachment to Ahsoka, or the characters from Rebels. I know I find Filoni's work to be a very mixed bag.

As much as I liked ep7 & 8, I'd be OK if they don't make a season 4 of Mandalorian. I'm quite satisfied leaving Mando exactly where he is. Perhaps special appearances in other shows would be best.

Looking forward to Andor season 2.

A whole planet full of Mandos, and we have no story except this one guy babysitting his amphibian fosterling...? None?
Well, yeah, in theory there's lots of Mando factions scattered about - Din says as much; so suppose you could do some sort of GOT thing where Bo's power base is threatened, etc.

But I like Pascal's Din D'jarin, like Grogu; am all for his bouncing around the galaxy rooting out Imperials; maybe combined with a storyline where it becomes clear Grogu does need more training and/or we get more info on what happened after he was rescued from Coruscant....

IMO it doesn't have to be either/or. Maybe Din goes back to his village to see what's left. Maybe a new Jedi shows up.
Maybe Grogu has his first test to see whether he can resist sliding to the Dark Side which no-one seems to have mentioned to him yet, or to Din either. Maybe Din meets a bunch of Mandalorians who are pretty corrupted and has to take them on. Etc.

I don't really care, Bill Burr doesn't even like Star Wars and brought his A-game to the role. You don't need really to be a fan of something to do good work. JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson are Star Wars fans and they made some of the worst Star Wars out there. Sometimes it's good to have a fresh perspective. As fans we often think we know what we want when in reality we don't have a clue.

JF and RR are also Star Wars fans and we know how BOBF turned out.

Well, yeah. Except I liked Rebels and tend to just overlook Filoni's sillier concepts, because of the good stuff.

Heck I'm no Ahsoka fan and while Dawson is an OK actress, I just don't think she pulls off the wise sage that well. But - she can do the physical stuff. So I'll be there, without planning to spend. The aesthetics IMO looked cool and some of what Filoni came up with - like Lothal - are favorite environments of mine. IMO he has some good design people.

I'm very selective. I have so much good nostalgia I no longer need to taint it with bad new stuff (ST, OWK, etc).

But Mando S3 E7-8 are winners. Too bad so much muck in the episodes before them.

Anyone can "act" in just about any project, whether they're a fan or not. You just show up, put on the costume, say your lines, and that's it.

But in order to actually write the lines? You probably need to have some understanding and appreciation for the decades worth of lore that has come before.

I don't know anything about "Warhammer" other than it's an RPG and it has little metal figures to paint. If someone offered me a chance to write a television series based off of it, I personally wouldn't commit until I'd done a deep dive into it and find out if I even LIKE it.

I don't think it's at all an elitist attitude to require that the people that write for a property at the very least have watched the movies. And if that is elitists? Well, so be it.

Well yeah that's fair enough. Maybe you'll like Ahsoka, maybe you won't. Perfectly reasonable to give it a chance.
I'm not sure if the good outweighs his Filoniisms. His stuff is always a mixed bag.
I liked some of the stuff in TCW but not all of it. I like some of the stuff in Bad Batch but not all of it.
When he's good, he's good but personally I'm struggling to think of anything from Rebels I liked. That one just fell really flat for me.
I'm sure a lot of the fandom will love the Ahsoka show which is great.
There's been a lot of disappointment lately. BoBF, Kenobi and, although ep7 & 8 were good, I thought Mandalorian season 3 was quite disappointing overall, so a show loved by a large portion if the fantasy would be most welcome.

I'm not sure if I'm going to watch it or not yet. I'm not attached to the characters, I'm not a big Filoni fan. End of the day it's just a TV show.
Because I don't have that emotional attachment to the show, because I'm not all hyped up about it, I'm not bothered how it turns out. It'll be a nice surprise if I enjoy it, but if not, oh well.
When BoBF turned out the way it did I was gutted. Enough to actually effect how excited I was about future Star Wars shows.
With each of these disappointments I get a bit more apathetic to new Star Wars shows.
At least with Ahsoka, I don't care enough about it to be upset if I don't like it and I can take some joy in how much a bunch of other fans will probably like it.

Sure about that?...

Glad I don't like eating Jell-o.

I guess I am being too hard on Picard honestly the only thing that pulled me out of the narrative was when Picard screamed at the Borg Queen…

“Nemesis Box Office tanked all because you didn’t want to play the damn Borg Queen again, damn you!”

IIRC NONE!! of the writers for this show know anything about SW and were specifically hired for that reason.

What a cool idea! Lets have a Batman movie and none of the writers knows a single thing about Bats. This is gonna be some lol-tastic stuff.

I dont care if the ACTORS know anything about a franchise. This happens all the time. The writers not knowing…? Thats asking for trouble.

I will be giving this a pretty wide berth.

Well, yeah, in theory there's lots of Mando factions scattered about - Din says as much; so suppose you could do some sort of GOT thing where Bo's power base is threatened, etc.

But its about much more than Because Din Says; Mandalorians do have a very rich history, and not all of them are good people. The bad ones are fearsome beasts indeed. There are a lot of factions and ALOT of infighting. It was known long before we ever met Din.

We could just have a show about Deathwatch! Deathwatch is a very sketchy bunch, and sometimes they do nice things but often not! A lot of other Mandos detest Deathwatch. Why? Why not find out? What about Tor Vizsla, a truly awful person? Now there is a villain for you.

We will never find out because we will be seeing that flippin’ green baby forever and ever. Its not that we hate the baby, you have to be an EU person to understand, I think.

Wishing Grogu away is an all-time top 5 setting yourself up for disappointment. That little cash register is not going anywhere. I personally think the show has a lot of heart because of their relationship and yeah, it's a puppet doing cartwheels but I still dig it...
Thank you for the kind concern, but I'm not really disappointed at all. Never though I'd get to add any more SW to my personal canon after ROTJ. Two top notch seasons of Mando has already far exceeded my wildest expectations.
