Original looks like an idealised artist interpretation of Tom Holland.

Updated one looks like the “detailed and authentic likeness” to Tom Holland that they advertise.
I think there are ASPECTS of the old sculpt that maybe have a better likeness to him, maybe around the mouth and certain areas of the cheeks; they've always slightly cutesified him in their sculpts imo and now with this new updated scukpt, they've gone back to that a bit. One exception is the earlier headsculpt that came with the original homemade suit figure - that headsculpt had something that all the other ones are missing, a bit more manliness or ruggedness or something, which the original sculpt in this one had added back in a bit, but is now taken away again. That said, I do think the likeness is better overall (and as I mentioned in my previous comment, something about that first sculpt vaguely reminded me of ben affleck somehow at times so I'm glad that's now gone hah.) I dunno, his face is unusual in that when I picture him, I do think of him as being as 'cute' as the hot toys sculpts tend to make him, but in reality, esp now that he's a bit older, when you actually look at him he has a bit more manliness (for want of a better term)

That's why I liked him more before,he's 26 years old,how old was he in the movie 23? Updated sculpt looks too young for me. Of course it looks great, but I still preferred more dramatic take of the original, looked more mature and experienced, like he's in the end of the movie. Well,it is what it is.

No doubt this is 100% spot-on for a likeness to Tom Holland, but I did quite like the slightly more mature, chiseled jawline look of the old sculpt.
Then again, accuracy is the name of the game in 1/6 and there is no denying that Holland has a bit of a baby face.

The new sculpt is definitely more accurate. I preferred the original but that's more on me just liking the slightly older look for Spider-Man.

Somehow have to decide do I get the three Spidey's or just Tobey and his two villains? Can't really afford both.

now they need to fix that fugly doc ock sculpt, and I have a feeling they will. There were pics online last week of an HT pop-up shop somewhere and there was a Spider-Man NWH display with all the figures except doc ock. A good sign.

Hi,
So my waistlist opportunity for the Deluxe Toby Maguire Spider-Man just came through and I need to decide whether to go for it or to keep my current pre-order of the Deluxe Tom Holland final suit from NWH.

I currently have a mix of villains for my Spidey collection but no Spider-Man [I cancelled the Video Game Classic suit when I saw the NWH final suit], including Molina Doc Ock, Jazzinc The Vulture, Mysterio and a Toys Era Fiend [that I'm hoping to sell to pay towards my Upgraded Goblin order].

I really like both Tobey and Tom's Spider-men, Tobey is more nostalgic but Tom has been in more movies [with more to come] and has played the role really well with a consistent quality to his movies. Tobey's base is SO much more interesting than the deluxe for Tom Holland [which I do like...but that Sandman is awesome] however the Tobey is a LOT more expensive.... I really like both suits, Tom's is like an upgraded version of the classic suit which I love and I love the vibrant colours, but the Tobey suit is also pretty close to a classic look but with slightly more visual interest with the raised webbing, though the colours aren't as bright as the Holland final suit.
I think both head sculpts are amazing, though sadly I see myself rarely using them in favor of the masked sculpt.

So I am canvassing for opinions and perspectives.
What do you guys think?
Need opinions fairly quickly before my waitlist opportunity expires. :ROFLMAO:

Wow this is really tough. You bring up great reasons for obtaining both figures!

As I have admitted before on this forum, I am one figure per character guy, and therefore try to have the most “representative” version of any figure. I currently have the infinity War Iron Spider which is a cool figure but it will have to go.

So for what it’s worth I went with the NWH Final Suit. Mostly bk as you mentioned it has the look of the classic suit but upgraded. Also Tom Holland is killing in this role and will likely be in a few more movies, which for me makes this version of Spiderman classic yet contemporary and the definitive version for my collection.
