@MyenShi I just got my SS charging notice like others here. I also had the Popcultcha order that you recommended purchased. I am in California and was wondering what the usual lag time is for Popcultcha in relation to US releases. I know the delay from HK to the US is roughly 3 months or less depending on release. Do you happen to know? Thank you in advance

They get them very late, way after the US. I wouldn’t expect them to get the figure till maybe Q3 at the earliest.

Just got my shipping notice last night for this clone! I am trying to reason how SS releases figures. I did early deluxe pre-order for Ahsoka when she was first announced and I see a bunch of people getting shipping notices for her now. Still have nothing for her while I was on waitlist/convert for this clone. Has anyone else got him in hand from SS or got notices and is in the same boat?

I think its completely random. I ordered Jango Fett like a week after his blogger pics came out and got mine sooner than someone who day 1 preordered.

Congrats! Must be excited to get the figure soon.

The way Sideshow processes orders is a subject that's been of interest to me. I’m not bothered by when I get figures but it’s been an amusing puzzle to try to solve.

As far as anyone can tell it seems random. Based on what others have said, it has nothing to do with when you actually place your order or your status as a customer. That much we know for sure.

Type of order also doesn't matter; a waitlist conversion during the preorder phase is an order just the same as a day one. An order pre-paid in advance also doesn't put you in front.

They avoid disclosing too much but there’ve been clues. They can charge you based on when they expect the figures to arrive at the warehouse and not when it's actually there. Someone was told that the shipping order is optimized based on region but that feels iffy.

They've also said any changes you make in your account - including just the payment method - will push you back because in their system. This may also include selecting to pay in advance later which counts as a change being made to the order.

So in conclusion:

Wow, @Fr0stbit3 and @MyenShi thank you for the in-depth explanation. I can see the pay in advance/later possibly being a factor as they get their money up front, but yes for the most part this all feels so random. They could be just looking at a list and going alphabetically and handing out stock as it comes--but only someone inside SS would probably know. I wonder what kind of discount employees get for working there? And if they just get desensitized to being surrounded by collectibles all day.

A bit more in depth from me than you were probably expecting but trying to figure out how they do things had me like this a few years ago. :lol

I know of someone who works at Sideshow but they're pretty tight lipped about it but they seem to enjoy it and buy collectibles through work. Benefits seem standard for the industry and not a bad company to work for. But it can be difficult working with demanding customers.

My spouse used to be a manager for a prominent toy company and she never became jaded or desensitized to it. It was always cool despite the actual work being very difficult at times. There were a lot of nice insider perks and things she got so it balanced out.

@MyenShi Must be super cool to work around collectibles and toys that we love! So my clone just arrived yesterday and finally got a chance to look at it--wow the 20th anniversary AOTC packaging is so nice--I am not a box keeper, but I may keep this one just because it looks like an old school SW figure that used to sit on the pegs! I will try to get some shots up this weekend when I get some posing time! For all those getting him, I know it's a base clone but wow it's really wizard! Haha

Agreed. I didn't grow up in the Kenner era but I still love vintage style packaging which seems pretty universal. The clean retro lines really resonates regardless of age.

I keep a carded modern The Vintage Collection... collection, but it's nice seeing the design used on other products. Especially when it's the old meeting the new.

Maybe you can put a picture of the Clone Trooper in the box and throw it on a shelf for a neat display.

And named Clones and battalion colors are really cool, but there's also something undeniably special about the base all white Clone Trooper. It's just classic.

What a world, in which Hasbro can gift us with 200,000 Lando Calrissians with a million more on the way, and HT gifts us with a total of fifty of a very handy army-building basic clone. Whatta time to be alive.

I bet we get fifty of the (you know its coming) basic white Republic Commando too. Well, next time I will not be sleepin'.

I'm betting heavily that the Clone Pilot will be next to follow suit.

You both reminded me of the guy I saw in some comments section who was acting smarter than everyone because he was going to wait for these to go on sale in a year.

I wonder how he’s doing.

I have nothing but sympathy for anyone that genuinely tried and missed out but if you choose to bury your head in the sand then that’s on you.

It is kinda bizarre, a popular standard clone figure that more than likely warrants a few multiples seems to be not made reasonably available (thus far) like the other troopers have been. I'm wondering if this one will hit stock in SS and other places, but we'll see.

I wonder if they’ll have to cancel any orders due to allocation? Anyone know anybody over there to ask the question?
