Never mind a lost ark. For me it's a lost Indy figure. It's been 47 days since mine shipped and there has been no update
in the tracking. Perhaps my Indy got Covid in China and is under quarantine. My fault for asking for an unvaccinated
Indy.

Really impressed with this figure 😀

If I were to order this figure would I definitely get the V2 release or is there some chance that some retailers still have V1's in stock?

Opened up my V2 at long last- first ever Indy figure- and I finally understand what all the fuss is about regarding the want for a perfect outfit.
It always seemed like such a simple costume to me that I couldn’t understand how it could be one of the most sought after custom requests ever but, after a lot of futzing and looking at pics of Indy, I think I get it.

Anyways, this is a pretty good starting point for any Indy fan. I’m not gonna go down the rabbit hole of upgrading parts to perfection. Instead, I’m just working with what I have to make the most of it.

I intend to distress the jacket but don’t know if I’ll ever put it on Indy. Even if V2 is meant to be thinner, it’s still pretty thick. There’s a lot of material on the inner sleeve seem and the pockets and collar would probably never sit in a more natural way that conveys the appropriate thickness at 1:6.

Whoever platted my whip together tore a piece and decided the wrap some tape around that thread and carry on so it stood out to me immediately. I’m not one to fuss around with a lengthy return or replacement process so just cut the tape out and glued to piece together which worked a charm.

Anywho, I’ve opted for the Raiders look in the infamous duel against the Arab swordsman where Indy is drenched in sweat, sleeves rolled up, shirt wide open.

The PT shirt is very thick material. Reminds me of old sideshow figures so it required a good soaking to start putting creases in it. I snipped open the cuffs to roll up the sleeves- as they were sewn together- and chopped off the middle popper button so it wouldn’t be eyesore with the shirt open.
Then I figured I’d paint on the sweat patches and enhance the crease details that the shirt can’t achieve on its own.
I even used a HB pencil in parts for shading, folds in the button strip and shirt pockets and I drew on some subtle chest hairs, then dapped on some gloss coat in an attempt to seal in the sweaty look. Might need another pass over with that method.

Trousers also got the water treatment and some dirt and creases painted on.
I also swapped out the hands for some Worldbox spares I had lying around.

So far so good.

Zoomed in you can see I was going at it pretty sloppily but, from standard viewing distance, the effect works.

He’s got two incorrectly placed buttons on the left side of the shirt now so I’m hoping my OCD allows them to stay there but, if not, I’ll just snip em off and either simply glue em to the correct side or chuck em in the box.

Pretty happy with the figure’s current state. Present Toys with a Worldbox AT011 body and Sideshow pants. The gloved hands are from SooSoo Toys’ Rorschach.

What would you change to improve the figure? Mainly in terms of futzing or replacing items with a limited budget.

Jacket is a Present Toys V1. Kept the sleeves rolled up and the chest area creased and tucked under the armpits for three months. I like how this shaped the jacket.

I water treated the trousers, but they tend to remain crispy and won’t fall down nicely.

I tried to reshape the brim of the hat, but it regained its previous shape. Any tips?

Really, really wish this Present Toys jacket had turned out to be genuine leather, though not sure what I was expecting from a non-licensed company offering a fig at $100 less than a licensed major company would. And to me at least there was very little if any difference between V.1 and V.2.

It's also a fairly common ploy, selling bonded leather as "real" leather, especially in furniture. It's illegal in some countries, but not in most. Bonded is real leather particles suspended in glue between the pleather outer coating and fabric-paper base, which produces a real leather-like smell and makes for a semi-convincing leather/pleather burn test due to the product being 15-20% leather. Doesn't last like leather though.

It's painful because many of the oldest SSC Indy pleather jackets are starting to go off (it's been 15 years now) and the HT jacket surely must be getting close to breaking down for everyone (everything else pleather from the HT set already has, you see even unopened sets on ebay with crumbled bag straps and holsters) and I was hoping a genuine leather jacket would be the answer, which is what this was sold as.

I guess on the bright side, it'll be a number of years before these PT pleather jackets go off and by then maybe a company will produce a genuine leather jacket.
Has it been proved it’s not real leather? It surely feels like it, at least to me. Also I own both a V1 and a V2, the difference in thickness is really noticeable.

Yep... Indy's outfit is a deceptively simple look that hides a very detailed and specific outfit. It is a rabbit-hole for sure. But the detailing is what's so fun about building an Indiana Jones.

You did a great job with what Present toys has given you.

Here's mine, not so much Present Toy's anymore .

Head, shoes and shirt is present toy's.
Body JX 01
Jacket Gee whiz
Pants and bag are Sideshow.
Belt Yunsil
Gun belt and holster Gustavo
Whip and bag strap Mfisher
Revolver in holster is hot toys.

That gee whiz jacket looks great. It could definitely use some weathering though.

Used the Present Toys Jones figure in my new home office Raiders display. I had missed out on all of the previous Hot Toys and Sideshow Indy figures so I am super happy to have this one. I think he looks awesome.

Always good to see some Indy love for sure and very cool display with the other relics from Raiders.. Inccidently the whip the whip keeper goes on the otherside by his satchel.

Thanks! Good tip on the whip keeper. I am not really happy with his pose yet so when I take him down for more futzing I will fix that.

Posing to me is where the fun comes in for sure. I like to change up the displays from time to time. Alot of good people here to help with ideas to.
